Intensify Campaigns, Opposition Political Parties Urged

Political activist Dante Saunders has called on opposition political parties in the country to strengthen their campaign strategies ahead of the forthcoming general elections scheduled for 20th September.
Mr. Saunders’s statement follows the announcement of the elections date and the subsequent dissolution of parliament and cabinet by Republican President Rupiah Banda.
Mr. Saunders has advised leaders from the opposition political parties not to waste their time but concentrate on garnering support in time for the polls.
He has further observed that the ruling MMD has made headways in ensuring that it reaches all areas across the country adding that this should be a challenge to the opposition.
The political activist has also urged all registered voters across the country to use this period before elections to seriously scrutinize all aspiring candidates in order to make an informed decision on whom to usher in office.
And Mr. Saunders has called for the enhancement of enforcement levels of the new electoral code of conduct.
He says compliance of the electoral code of conduct will remain poor as long as there is no step taken to penalize those who breach the provisions in the code.
