Nkana’s highly rated teenage whizkid Ronald Kampamba has been ruled out of this weekend’s mouthwatering Kitwe derby against Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium after he left for South Africa on Tuesday afternoon were he will attend trials at Supersport United.
Kampamba, who is commonly known as ‘Sate Sate’ among the Kalampa faithful was joined by former Nkana favourite Rabby Lwambula [pictured on the right], now on a seasonal loan at Zanaco on the flight to Pretoria and both are expected to spend about 14 days at the Matsatsantsa.
“Rabby and Sate Sate left on Tuesday afternoon and will be attending trials at Supersport United,” Nkana Football Club Secretary Lombe Mbalashi confirmed in an interview with Zambianfootball.net
Mbalashi also revealed that Nkana has held Evans Kangwa who has scored 6 goals because of the upcoming El Classico against their local rivals and felt that stood a better chance to be beat their noisy neighbours with the club top scorer in the side.
“It’s the mother of all derbies and we just thought for now [Evans] Kangwa can wait but he will definitely be going abroad we have received offers for him.,” Mbalashi explained Kangwa’s snub as he was also set to attend trials at Supersport United.
While Lwambula announced his arrival on the local scene in 2009 when Nkoloma Stadium hosted the Division One North tie between Nkana and Mufulira Wanderers with a man of the match performance that earned him a call up to one of then Chipolopolo Boys coach Herve Renard’s training camp, ‘Sate Sate’ rose to stardom in the second half of last season and this campaign he has filled the boots left by Lwambula who joined Zanaco.
The teenage striker who is comfortable on the flanks though he favours playing in the hole or simply as a second striker has scored 4 league goals.
He was also called to the Under-17 national team last year but is yet to make his international debut at either under-17 or 20 level but the boy from Wusakile is arguably one of the exciting teenagers alongside Red Arrows’ Bruce Musakanya, whom fans are already dubbing the Zambian version of Barca superstar Xavi despite him being deployed on the right wing by Arrows coach George Lwandamina as opposed to the World Cup winner’s central role both for club and country.
In terms of the new kids on the block this season it has been ‘Sate Sate’, Musakanya and Zanaco playmaker Boyd Mulwanda, who was snapped from Nampundwe by Wedson Nyirenda – who have caught the eye and are contenders for the 2011 Young Player of the Year awards at the end of the season.
With Lwambula out, Nyirenda will be hoping Henry Banda and Simon Silwimba could pass late fitness tests ahead this Sunday’s crunch encounter against Zesco United at Trade Fair Grounds. Congolese winger Fabrice Bimba is also an option while Zesco’s care taker coach Masautso Mwale will turn to former Zanaco captain Winstone Kalengo to lead the attack if he has recovered from the fever which ruled him out of the 1-0 loss to Kabwe Warriors last Saturday.
