The Electoral Commission of Zambia has revised constituency boundaries for Mwinilunga, Ikelengi, Isoka and Mafinga districts following the establishment of two new districts namely Ikelengi and Mafinga in north western and Northern provinces respectively.
ECZ deputy director for information technology Brown Kasaro in a statement released today says the commission is legally required to revise the boundaries of the constituencies as the law provides that constituency boundaries should fall within one district.
Mr. Kasaro says the two new districts will have their constituencies called Ikelenge and Mafinga respectively formally Mwinilunga west and Isoka east constituencies.
Mr. Kasaro adds that Mafinga District will have wards which include Mwenipangala and Nachisitu, while Mwinilunga West has been revised to exclude three wards namely Kanongesha,Kawiku and Mulumbi.
He says Mwinilunga East constituency has been renamed as Mwinilunga constituency, while Isoka West will now be called Isoka constituency.
However, Mr. Kasaro has noted that the revision of boundaries in the said areas have not resulted in creation of any additional constituencies, wards and polling districts.

THE VOTERS REGISTER WAS CLOSED A LONG WAY BACK, RENAMING THEM, MEANS PEOPLE WHO WERE REGISTERED IN THE OLD CONSTITUENCES might end up being turned away, as they won’t be registered under the new constituence!!
IT ALLOWS FOR GHOST VOTERS, DUPLICATION OF VOTERS REGISTERED, ALLOWS FOR EXC– USES OF DELAYED BOXES ARRIVING FOR THE FINAL COUNT!!!!!! OPPOSITION SHOULD TAKE OUT AN INJUNCTION AGAINST ECZ, even though it is within their mandate to demarcate new constituencies, IT CAN’T BE DONE AFTER REGISTERS OF VOTERS HAVE BEEN CLOSED, & CERTAINLY, NOT 20 DAYS BEFORE A GENERAL ELECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all know the answer – there will be TOO MANY EYES LOOKING TO BE HOODWINKED IN THOSE AREAS!!! IF ANYTHING, these are the areas that need demarcating becoz of THE POPULATION DENSITY – the argument would hold, becoz YOU WOULD BE INCREASING REPRESENTATION OF PEOPLE IN HIGH DENSITY AREAS WHO ARE UNDER-REPRESENTED
when you consider the Population ratio of Representatives to the number of people!!!
