ZAMBIANS Speak Out: AIRTEL Zambia Is Pathetic, Thieves

ZAMBIANS across the country have described mobile telecommunications company AIRTEL’s operations and services as pathetic and expensive for nothing.

This revelation follows a Tumfweko survey conducted across the country on the company’s operations and its general assessment both on the ground and through its facebook official page.

The Zambian people are not happy with the way AIRTEL Zambia is operating especially with its service provision with regards to network congestion, no network every after 5 minutes overcharging i.e being expensive, poor customer Service care at their call center and lack of confidentiality as among other things.

AIRTEL is the only Network provider which charges for a service on missed calls. K100 for one to receive missed call notification message, a situation Zambians have described as ‘Day Time Robbing’. Zambians have called for an end to what they have described as pathetic services.

The Customer Call center has been and still blocking customer numbers who have queried positive complaints and criticism to never call the service customer center.

The main culprits at the call center have been identified as ladies who the Zambian people said and described as cheeky and fond of hanging up on subscribers who question their operations positively.

Airtel has on a number of occasion failed to apologize to it’s customers on alleged pathetic and poor services.

The Zambia Information and Communications Authority [ZICTA] have also been blamed for failure to harmonize poor operations at AIRTEL with its continued dissatisfied services

The company AIRTEL Zambia has seen its owners and names changed from CELTEL, ZAIN. The company was used by the former embattled ruling party MMD when in was in power to campaign for embattled Former President Rupiah Bwezani Banda through the sending of messages and making of ‘ROBO CALLS’ in which most of the Zambians expressed annoyance with lack of confidentiality in its operations.

The company is owned owned by Indian Investors called Bhati Airtel.

AIRTEL Zambia leaked the Zambian Mobile Phone Numbers database to the MMD against the wishes of the majority Zambian Airtel subscribers with view to be used for campaigning for RB.

    ZICTA is toothless, how can GSM provider exploit subscribers as though they are sleeping when receiving or making those important calls. Airtel is there because of us the subscribers and we can put this to a stop by protesting to ZICTA and not Airtel. Airtel will continue to overcharge subscribers as long as ZICTA is zzzzzzzzz.

    Trust me MTN is the biggest CHEAT.

    They give 1 reward point for 500K which is equal to 1K worth airtime compared to Airtel who are giving 1 reward point for 650K which is equal to 30K!!

    i’m bad in mathematics but wont let MTN fool ma guys.

    They cheat BEEG and say win BEEG .

    when i use 50pin in a month i get back 2.5 pin from airtel whereas only 100Kwacha on MTN

    if you move around in Zambia there is no other operator who provides the kind of coverage it does.

    why have others not put money behind network as much as so called airtel put???

    We should keep shut instead of being douche bags.

    I would love to be with the thieves if they charge me 50ngwee while others dnt leave enuf in my pockets.

    MTN dedecuted my reward points into bonus when i was just surfing ~ cheating who cares!! who listens!!

    Call the call center. I dont know YELLO is only color not too comforting if you get caught in call waiting line with them

    But what makes me feel good is that they put that money back to please us as SUMMER BEEG BONANZA

    CellZ put big hoardings 6 to 6 unlimited so took one sim card. what came out was it has only 60 minutes of zamtel calling?

    Now that is called FOOLING PUPIL.

    You know who’s fooling us ! its ZAMTEL / CELLZ

    i saw big hoardings of 6 to 6 unlimited and bought one sim card. loaded 20pin and made one call. whoosh! it evaporated. i called call center only to know only 60min are free that too on zamtel nos.

    join me i want to ruin this company called zamtel

    Ladies and gentalmen,Celtel zambia isnt Airtel Zambia.The real Airtel is a wholly owned zambian company.The matter is currently in the high court of zambia case number-2010/HP/1216,And all this talk about Airtel zambia having supported the MMD is wrong.if any support was given, it was by Bharti Airtel thru their local company called Celtel or is it zain.To prove a point anyone of zambians should go to celtel/zain and demand for a printed invoice bearing the name Airtel Zambia Limited .

    Zicta is quite toothless and useless i personally lodged in my compliant with this so called commission on a number of wrong doings of airtel, but up to now nothing has been done. Airtel is useless maybe its because the indians are in control!

    I can’t get internet settings for a week now customer care are currently busy they give me a chargeable numba 097777……. Which they can’t still answer so they keep on charging me my…….my bundles will soon expire and i can’t cancel them…..

    Bane, these guys have to recover their investments so, they need to devise different tariffs/marketing schemes to increase their ARPU(Average Revenue Per User), hence all these gimmicks which I agree can be misleading to the uninitiated. I also agree that the service sucks and alot needs to be done to improve the Quality of Service (QoS ) in Cell Z, Airtel and MTN especially with their 3G Deployments..

    ZICTA has set PRICE CAPS and approves call charges. Operators are tied to set prices within the same.

    This debate is now boring. Move on to more current issues and complain less…

    I ditched Airtel the moment it changed from Zain. I knew nothing transparent would come out of an Indian just as I would never bank with Finance. There you have it! MTN all the way.

    Where is the Telecoms Authority in all this mess? I suspect that most if not all operators have bribed the Telecom Authority because there appears to be no one to enforce operational standards such as those seen in Botswana. The GRZ must step in and protect the Users from these sharks. There comes a time when a nation must say,” NO,” to rubbish services. It wuld als be important to cleanup the telecom authority because it appears to be located on Mars and not in Zambia.

    Telecoms Authority! Do they really have authority? It’s not surprising in a nation where corrupt cheap politics is the driving force behind national development.It,s unfortunate that the majority of Zambians are the ones losing out because the previous Governments have always frustrated Vodafon bids.

    Friends, it is our right and responsibility to keep
    our Zambia safe and a better place for our children. Stealing became legal due to selfish governance of the previous leadership.
    Hence corruption and theft became a life style by people and companies alike i.e Our farmous Airtel…

    I too agree that airtel has missed a point, their charges do not satisfy their poor customers, this is the duty which ZICTA should stand up for other than holding mere talks and workshops that do translate into benefits of those they claim to represent. Airtel say K13 per minute but it comes be more one makes a call. ZICTA helps us the poor not yourselves who already by drawing airtime, come up with an effective policy
