Katebe, Phiri Join Squad Ahead Of Zim Friendly

Aaron Katebe
Zimbabwe based towering Hwange FC defender Aaron Katebe and Lawrence Phiri of Progresso FC in Angola are confident of doing well in Wednesday evening’s international friendly match against Zimbabwe.

The duo, who is the only foreign based players in Herve Renard’s local assemblage of the Zambia Development Team which takes on Zimbabwe at 18:00 Wednesday 8th August, arrived in Ndola midday. They immediately joined the rest of their colleagues in the afternoon training session, fazfootball.com has confirmed.

Katebe and Phiri are delighted to be part of the team and are looking forward to competing for a starting place and possibly a place in the Chipolopolo which Renard will name after Wednesday’s match against Zimbabwe. African champions Chipolopolo travel to South Korea for a date against the 2002 FIFA World Cup semi finalists on 15th August in Seoul.

The African champion coach has intimated that he may call some players from the Zambia local squad should any of them impress him in training and in the match against Zimbabwe.
