Voter Apathy Expected in forthcoming By-Elections

The Anti-Voter Apathy Project has predicted possible voter apathy in the forthcoming April twenty third Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West Parliamentary by-elections.

AVAP Executive Director Richwell Mulwani has also noted that it is worrying that already some political leaders have started abrogating the Electoral code of conduct as was observed from the Patriotic Front chairperson Sylvia Masebo during the filing of nominations in Kapiri Mposhi.

Mr.Mulwani has observed if leaders such as the PF Chairperson for elections Ms. Masebo who is also Tourism and Arts Minister can abrogate Electoral law as she did by breaking the four hundred meters perimeter distance at a nomination center the situation would be worsened by the political cadres.

The AVAP Executive Director has told Qfm in an interview that there is need for political parties taking part in the two by-elections to be responsible in ensuring that the Electoral law is adhered to by all their members during elections.

Exfbi, you are right. These are some misguided individuals who contribute to strife instead of contributing to development through meaningful participation in politics or other projects..

IF there is going to be apathy it simply goes to shows that people are tired of this voting. People want to see development not casting of ballot papers. We want to come and vote during the 2016 general election. For now we should be talking about development. The money being used to prepare these elections could be used to buy medicine in that clinic at Kipiri mposhi.
There should be a law that should bars the part that causes a bye election not to participate in an election

There should be a law that should bars the political part that causes a by-election not to participate in an election or if they want to participate they should pay half of the cost of running the by-elections.
