Lungu Needs Political ‘alangizi’ – Nawakwi

FDD leader Edith Nawakwi says President Edgar Lungu should undergo political initiation to learn practices of good governance.

Addressing a gathering in chief Kalasa Mukoso’s area in Samfya district, where she is on a campaign trail for the party’s candidate Robby Mwansa in Thursday’s Bangweulu by-election, Nawakwi, who mostly spoke in Bemba, charged that contrary to her critics who have hinted that she be counselled for her loquacity, she thought President Lungu ought to be subjected to political counsel.

“Balelanda ku Lusaka ati ine bamfwaile nachimbusa nalandikisha! Ine nshalandikisha. Ndefwaya iwe ubebe bwino aba ku Lusaka, tufwaye banachimbusa bafunde ba Lungu ifyo abantu bekala. Ba Lungu tubengishe mung’anda ngafilya twingisha nachisungu, tabaishiba ukuteka abantu, babasambilishe ukuteka abantu pantu namayo nga ali akanashi akaiche tulabafunda efyo bateka ing’anda, aini? Nomba uyu uwatulilefye aisa alebutuka ati pantu ba Sata bafwa mpeni nine minister wa defence, taishiba nefyo abantu bekala (People in Lusaka are saying that they should find a counsellor for me because I’m talkative! I’m not talkative. I want you (journalist) to properly inform those who are in Lusaka, let us find a [political] counsellor who can teach Mr Lungu how people live. Let Mr Lungu be confined in a house just like what happens to a girl who has come of age. He doesn’t know how to rule people. They should teach him how to rule because even a young lady is taught how to look after a home, isn’t it? But for him, he just came from nowhere running saying ‘since Sata has died, give the presidency to me, I’m the Minister of Defence’, he doesn’t even know how people live),” Nawakwi said, amid laughter from the audience.

She further said President Lungu was governing like Zambians were his step-children.

“Mwebana bakwa Lesa, ichintu ico tauchulile sana chaba kwati niulya ulesunga umwana uwo asanga mung’anda. Bambi banamayo tatwakwata ichikuku; ngawasanga umwana mung’anda, wamupyepyeshafye. Efyo baleteka Zambia ba Lungu, baletuteka kwati bana bakusanga mung’anda (Children of God, something that you haven’t suffered for is like someone who looks after their step-children. Some of us women are merciless; if you find step-children in a home, you just forsake those children. That’s how Mr Lungu is governing Zambia, he is leading us like we are his stepchildren),” Nawakwi said.

She also observed that as a “transitory” Head of State, President Lungu had failed to lead to people’s expectations.

“Nomba ifwe mu Zambia ubuteko bwa mpyani? Mwebana bakwe Lesa, mulekana pantu namumona ukuteka ukwampyani, takwalondoloka (Now, are we going to be having transitory governments in Zambia? Children of God, you should be refusing because you have seen that such kind of governments are anchored on misrule),” she noted.

And the opposition leader reminded the crowd that it had become difficult to make ends meet under President Lungu’s leadership.

She said people’s way of living was not good.

“Echo njishile kuno. Moneni abaiche balesenda amalasha baleya ku town! Nomba baonaula umusebo bangwele, ba stupid! Ine kuti nafwaya Edgar Lungu aisapita mumisebo napita umu elo atweba ngefyo kateka afwile ukuteka abantu bakwe (That’s why I have come here. Look, young men are taking charcoal to sell in town. Now stupid people have destroyed the road. I would love Edgar Lungu to come and use this same road I have used and to tell us whether that’s how a leader takes care of his people),” Nawakwi said.
“Pano ndelanda bamotoka balafwa bonse pantu baliya shita fimafuta ifyakwata amatika, baleta. Amalaiti takuli, ku Lusaka takuli nechiweme, mwilakumbwa (as I’m talking, all cars will develop faults because they [government] imported toxic commingled crude. There is also no electricity, there is nothing nice in Lusaka, you shouldn’t long for Lusaka).”

Nawakwi also taunted the Head of State over his numerous international travels.

“Abeshibefye abantu bekala ngataseya nga pungwa! Apo mwamusalila Edgar Lungu minister wandi, President wandi, tabalala mung’anda nangu two days. Kuti namwikala mu Lusaka mwaumfwa pye, pye pye; baleya kwi? Baleya ku Congo, pye, pye, pye, apapene bafumine ku Uganda. Baile ku South Africa, bonse ba kateka bamufyalo fyonse bafumako; ba kateka bandi umusebanya baikalako eight days. Baledabwa ngababapela hotel room, baledabwa ati bushe nine Lungu, teine Lungu apa! (If only he knew how people are living, he wouldn’t have been moving aimlessly like a hawk! From the time that you elected Edgar Lungu, my minister, my President, he doesn’t sleep in his house for two days. You can be seated in Lusaka only to hear that he is going. Going where? He is going to Congo. Just recently, he was in Uganda. When he went to South Africa, other Presidents left soon after the official programme; but my President shamelessly spent eight days. He gets surprised when he is given a hotel room, he asks himself ‘Is it me, Lungu? I’m not Lungu now!)” said Nawakwi.

Nawakwi is a useless old cow that has eaten too much grass; it is so full that it now is regurgitating the same! We have not forgotten the deals and criminal activities she committed when she was finance minister. NAWAKWI, YOU DESERVE TO BE IN CHIMBOKAILA! YOU IDIOT!!!
