BoZ Introduces New Notes For The Blind

THE Bank of Zambia (BoZ) has launched a new tactile feature on the bank notes to facilitate easier identification by visually impaired persons.
BoZ communications director Kanguya Mayondi said during a sensitization workshop in Lusaka yesterday that the introduction of the new tactile feature on all bank notes is in form of slanting lines.
“BoZ has introduced the new tactile feature to accommodate the visually impaired because they are money users, too. This will lessen acts of stealing money from them because slanting lines will guide them,” Mr Mayondi.
He said the special markings are in the form of slanting lines on each front of the denomination ranging from two slanting lines on the lowest banknote, which is the K2 note, to seven slanting lines on a K100 note.
Mr Mayondi said the current banknotes will be circulated side by side with the new ones with the tactile feature without a time limit for withdrawal from circulation.
He said the new notes will promote barrier-free access to the Zambian currency.
Zambia Association for People Living with Disabilities acting director Sarah Brotherton said the practice of adding a new feature on the banknotes shows how visually impaired people are cared for in Zambia.
“I am glad that government has responded to the plight of the disabled in society quickly and without resistance. It has shown how recognised we are in activities of the nation,” Mrs Brotherton said.
She said this will also provide an extra security feature ensuring that work of counterfeiters is made difficult and at the same time making it easy for identification.

These idiots are full of nonsense how is the new tactile feature on the note going to help the blind? how much is it going to cost the the bank of Zambia to put the tactile feature on the note? my answer is a lot of money which is waisting money. Did the majority of the blind people people wanted the tactile feature on the note? Pleaseee find something useful to help the blind people with rather than that tactile feature on the note

Please learn to read between the lines, this is just a way of printing more money to further devalue the Kwacha at an even faster rate especially that no old currency will be withdrawn
