Shakafuswa Rejects President Lungu’s JOB Offer
KATUBA UPND member of parliament Jonas Shakafuswa told parliament last evening that he turned a ministerial appointment from President Edgar Lungu because he wants to offer checks and balances whilst in opposition. And Shakafuswa told the PF that Zambia does not belong to them alone.
Contributing to the motion of thanks to the President’s speech, Shakafuswa said he has been engaging President Lungu on a number of national issues in a bid to create harmony in the midst of tension in Zambia being fuelled by tribal inclination. “This hatred is wrecking our country and sometimes I even think of quitting politics because it [hatred] has no relevance in this political direction.
I engage President Lungu even when I am UPND. He wanted me to be minister but then I said I want to offer checks and balances whilst in the opposition. If I became your minister…engaging government does not stop me from providing checks and balance,” Shakafuswa said. “I engage Edgar and I am glad that most of the things we discuss came out in his speech. Why be at each other’s throats as UPND and PF when we were bed fellows at one time?” Shakafuswa accused a certain media house of being merchants of hatred, which should not be allowed.
And Shakafuswa said selective development being undertaken by the PF was also fuelling tension in Zambia. “Ichi chishi teshi chanu nwenka; chishi chesu tonse (This country does not belong to you the PF alone but all of us as Zambians),” said Shakafuswa.
“So the PF, Mr Speaker, must take development to each constituency. My chief has no road, no secondary school and you come and tell us you are building universities elsewhere! That’s what is bringing tension. If you walk the talk, the tension will go.” Shakafuswa said he would not wait until the UPND assume office next year when there was a current Zambian problem to deal with, which could not wait.
“The problem of energy, we need to put our brains together,” said Shakafuswa

Indirectly UPND is ruling. ECL, Lubinda, Sichinga & many others still have their allegiance to their first political love, UPND.
ECL still adores UPND. He can’t just come out but secretly he is supportive. Push him against the wall, he he’ll dump you & go back to his first love.

Shakafuswa himself is the worst tribalist. I am sure in his heart he hates bembas with a passion. The same development he is talking about is the one the UPND and himself were blasting Sata that he is overdoing it. Why should he be the first one to complain? You should be the first one to change.

So far i have seen 2 people this time around who have exibited passion, maturity & principledness & not desperation. And these are GBM & Shakafuswa.
Shaka is not in a hurry to get a ministerial position why?
Because he knows that a few months from now he ‘ll get a genuine one in Upnd which will last long.
Show them leadership now & am sure people from your constituency will give u another Vote for your discipline, thanks.

Iwe Shimaini, what principledness has GBM exhibited?
When Lungu won, GBM went to state house with money to apologise to Lungu, but Lungu turned down his money offer. I know this for a fact!!! GBM got so confused after being snubbed and ran back to HH and UPND. As for Shakafuswa, he thinks UPND will win next year and will get a job for five years. But I can see him getting disappointed and ranting and raving even more. I do not see a party that is restricted to one region winning next year’s elections and forming government. Zambians know this fact and that is why they will not give them the Presidency!!!

I would like to commend Shakas for exhibiting politics of maturity, unity and condemning tribalism, and enganging H.E President Edgar Lungu on issues of Governance. He has also expressed concern over a well known Newspaper that is out to destroy personalities that are opposed to its operations. Shakas has been in Govt before as Deputy Minister Finance in MMD under the Leadership of tough whip late Prez Levy Mwanawasa who brooked no nonsense, but was hardworking and still is. He has tonned down on unnecessary personal attacks and this kind of maturity is wonderful. Keep it up Shakas and see you on 18th October Reconciliation Day my Minister.

Which fool said no mp can refuse a ministerial position? My dear they are many, Garry Nkombo, Jack Mwimbu, Siavonga mp etc turned out ba sata’s offers. But to show you something you wont despute, Levy mwanawasa redigned as vice president of both the mmd and veep of Zambia. GBM also resigned as Defense minister nokusala ulupwa(defending bashilubemba). Not every one is a bootliker my dear,there are alot of us who lead our lives with values.
