15 Girls Withdrawn From Marriages

THE 15 girls from various schools in Chilubi district who were recently married off by their parents have been re-enrolled into school after the intervention of their teachers.
This follows numerous reports of early marriages at various schools in Chief Chiwanangala’s area in Chilubi district.
Mutimba Primary School head teacher Martin Chiti told the Zambia News and Information Services that the problem of early marriages in Chilubi is serious and requires the urgent attention of all stakeholders.
Mr Chiti warned parents that teachers will not sit idle and watch pupils being married off at a tender age.
He called for co-operation from all stakeholders including traditional leaders, non-governmental organisations and the Church to ensure that cases of early marriages in Chilubi are halted.
Mr Chiti also called on parents to value their children’s education and grant them the opportunity to go to school for them to have a better and productive future.- ZANIS.

What u expect when people are living under poverty under this pf government. They now see their kids as meal tickets. This is very sad. Let us vote in a capable government like upnd

UPND is an opposition party that has never been in power so cut out the ” vote in a capable government like upnd”. We will only know how “capable” when they get to rule.

This reminds me of Paul Ngozi’s song “Bamukayika ten wara ati so wingile mu cabin”, whereby the father wanted to chew the Nsalamu.
In this case, the one marrying, and the father ought to be punished severely so others can learn.

A girl who has tasted marriage, regular sex and male attention finds it very difficult to concentrate in school they will be students day time only to be wives and mothers and night.
