President Lungu Asks Church To Help Eliminate Hatred Among Politicians

PRESIDENT Lungu has implored the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) to lead the way in reconciling and healing “open wounds” among politicians to eliminate hatred and bitterness in the country.
President Lungu said there is a lot of hatred, bitterness, contempt and envy in Zambia, especially among opposition politicians and a newspaper.
He said it is disappointing that some church leaders have also joined what he termed as the devil’s crusade of hate and malice.
Mr Lungu said bitterness and malice are offshoots of lack of forgiveness and that they should not be part of Zambia’s political dispensation.
President Lungu said this on Saturday in a speech read for him by minister of Local Government and Housing John Phiri during a UCZ Luanshya town congregation presidential luncheon held to raise funds for the construction of a Cathedral in Luanshya.
lungu e2“There is so much hate, bitterness, contempt and envy in Zambia, particularly among politicians and a known newspaper. We are a Christian country. I pray that the UCZ will lead the way in reconciling our leaders and healing the open wounds among our leaders,” President Lungu said.
He said hate, bitterness and envy are vices that should not have a place in Zambia.
President Lungu said the luncheon cemented the already strong bond of co-existence between the church and its sheep in political dispensation.
“In 1991, Zambia was declared a Christian nation. This pronouncement has in no way inhibited other faiths to be upheld but the declaration provides a solid Jehovah-anchored platform on which Zambia must build her social and economic development. In a Christian nation, all of us should strive to attain spiritual growth that will reflect citizens who fear God.
“Humility, hard work, resilience, generosity and discipline are characteristics of nationals of a Christian nation. These are ingredients of a people marching towards prosperity,” Mr Lungu said.
He said his call for a day of national prayer and fasting for reconciliation and forgiveness during his official opening of the fifth session of the 11th National Assembly on September 18, demonstrates his unwavering commitment towards the promotion of love and peace among citizens.
UCZ Luanshya town Congregation minister-in-charge Bishop Patrice Siyemeto thanked Government for the support.
Luanshya district commissioner Harold Mbaulu and Kitwe town clerk Bornwell Luanga were among the people who attended the luncheon.

All the sensible Zambians like Bob sichinga, Patrick Chsanga and many others left UPND when Mazoka died because HH was clear in his approach of being against other tribes, especially Bembas and the easterners. tribalism cam with HH, now he wants people to join Satanism. God forbid.

it is eminent that most of these tribal remarks come from one particular section of people. Stop bringing up this nonsense of tribe here. Debate on issues at hand and not this childish cry about tribe bla bla tribal bla bla….. stop it and grow up. Discuss the issue in subject… Ata!!!!

            September 28, 2015 at 5:02 pm

My brother, the issue in subject is tribalism, envy and hate. Let me say this: The leaving of Chisanga, Sichinga, Sakwiba, Lungu, Lubinda from the UPND was as the result of the infamous “Only-A-Tonga-Can-Lead UPND”. The person who championed it is alive, the affected persons are alive and the sole beneficiary of the filth is alive and enjoying his products. No amount of blame shifting will sweep this under the carpet until UPND cleanses itself of the rot.
Do not join-in in prayer on 18th. It does not matter.

I agree that tribalism became more pronounced during sata’s time and has continued. Sata was such a deep seated tribal devil that northwestern for example has seen no development despite being the richest. This onyx skunk is one of those tribal maggots and sata’s disciples whose only message was HH is tribal without looking at their own tribal rottenness. That is why I favor federalism.

“President Lungu said there is a lot of hatred, bitterness, contempt and envy in Zambia, especially among opposition politicians and a newspaper.”

The president should have stopped at Zambia, the rest has spoiled the spirit in his asking for prayer. As for choosing a day and telling the people of Zambia to pray its a non starter and it will not work for one can not impose on a people that which the mind is not prepared for or is in unison. One does not turn to God at the height of everything going awry! Prayer is individual conviction and @ Chuundu chaitwa leave HH Nez out of it for another view is that the same God has blessed HH to make his wealth thus we all should not split hairs according to what suits us and mixing it with our religious beliefs.

I know Fred Mmembe wants to serve his selfish interest and UPND is serving their tribal interest. So as head of state you are the father of all the warring parties and you need to bring all of them together. ,Methodist and the Pentecostal churches. When you include God in all your activities you are bound to succeed. Read Jeremiah 33 vs 3

The fact is the Bemba speaking people think they are non tribal and should therefore rule all others. They think they are superior than others despite their known and well documented social evils of theft,Public insults, uncouth behaviour and myriad of others bad mannerisms. Most of these have volunteered their original identities of tribe and language into exinction. Lundas,Bwiles,Lungus,Bisas,Lalas,Lambas,Swakas,Namwangas,Mambwes etc have lost their identities to Bembas.Take note however that the comprise of more than half of the national tribes but are still a civilized lot.It is the behaviour of those lost souls who have planted hatred and disunity in the country.

    • mary banda

      September 28, 2015 at 12:33 pm

for sure you sound an advocate for tribalism. Bemba speaking people are good mixers.

But like Tongas, there are some Bembas who are as tribal and foolish as you sound. But each tribe has its angels and demons alike.

This is why for a person to rule, he must appeal to the majority citizens. Infact, Bembas have only ruled this country for three years, under Sata.

Chiluba was from Luapula (almost Congo DR); Super Ken was from Malawi; Levy from Lenje/Lamba; RB from the East and Lungu from the East.

Bembas are only good mixers, even amongst themselves, you will hear them discuss issues in English. But some of you when you discover that a certain fellow fool is your tribesman, you quickly switch to you tribal tongue, and you think you are smart. English is the way to go. Tribe is nothing as we do not choose to be born in a certain tribe.

It is an accident which occurs when two sinners connive under the pretence of love, when it is only lust, and they produce you or me, or even the incest born Hakainde Hichilema.

If you knew history of Luba Lunda Kingdom which I guess we did at primary school you wouldn’t have said Chiluba wasn’t Bemba because he came from Luapula, what language is spoken in Luapula then?

  12. mwansa

    September 28, 2015 at 12:11 pm

Lungu is asking for the church to mediate and at the same time crying victim and demonising others. I do not think he is the right person to call for prayers because he has already judged that he is right and others are wrong. He is actually giving direction to the church by pointing at “bitter” and “envious” opposition members and a newspaper. His language is not conducive for reconciliation and that maybe is actually what he intends to achieve; to annoy others so that they shun the move. Then he will say “I told you they are bitter and envious”. Envious of what? Of a failed presidency?

even in the UCZ itself there is a lot of discontent. the UCZ of the ’70s & ’80s is not the UCZ of today. now it’s a church simply because they have buidings of worship. the doctrine is no longer that of Christ. this church has priotised money before Christ. if you have money you are respected but if you are poor you are not. for instance this case of a poor lady and member of WCF . when she passed on her body was not dressed in the WCF uniform for the reason that she had some outstanding payments. is this the way of Christ.

There is only one person I want to respond to: Mary Banda and I quote “But some of you when you discover that a certain fellow fool is your tribesman, you quickly switch to you tribal tongue, and you think you are smart. English is the way to go. Tribe is nothing as we do not choose to be born in a certain tribe”. My dear if tribe was nothing as we do not choose to be born in a certain tribe (to use your words), then I see no reason why you should be offended when you hear people who come from the same tribe speak in their mother tongue. The least you can do is try and learn other people’s languages instead of condemning them and calling them fools. Who do you think you are to call other people fools for speaking in their own language? What is so foolish about speaking to your fellow tribesmate in your language? Sometimes it is important to try and be civil even if you are not civilised, especially when you are on a public sight like this one. Whether you like it or not this Government has failed. No amount of talking can convince people. Bread is now at K7, mealie meal, fuel, etc is high and you tell people that the only way out is to work hard? That is a serious insult to an ordinary honest and hardworking Zambian. If you are benefiting from the Government not everyone is benefiting waumfwa.

But most importantly we shall pray for the leadership of this country for protection, wisdom and God’s favour upon the presidency and his cabinet.we hope to see a new smart Zambia full of worship as we soldier on to resolve the economic hardship our country is going through.it’s not by choice that Zambia is going through this hardship.Any other president at the helm of leadership around this time would have gone through it.SO brothers and sisters, let’s remain resolve and ensure we commit this great nation before God each day and pray for the leadership of this country.
