UNITED NATIONS – Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe exclaimed “We are not gays!” during his address to the 70th United Nations General Assembly on Monday, September 29.
Mugabe outlined his opposition to the imposition of “new rights that are contrary to our values,” before deviating from his pre-prepared speech, according to journalists at the scene, to add the statement.
“Respecting and upholding human rights is the obligation of all states, and is enshrined in the United Nations charter,” Mugabe said.
“[Zimbabwe rejects] attempts to prescribe ‘new rights’ that are contrary to our values, norms, traditions, and beliefs. We are not gays! Cooperation and respect for each other will advance the cause of human rights worldwide. Confrontation, vilification, and double-standards will not.”

Was this another case of reading the wrong speech? Mugabe will make any grandiose statement to distract people’s attention form the problems he has caused onto his country. This is not a fellow worthy listening to; the worst hypocrite on earth duping gullible Africans

I haven’t read NEZ’s comments yet, but some are already busy chiding him; what sense of hate!
By the way, I vividly remember late Sata promising the respect of gay rights in Zambia when he campaigned for presidency prior 2011 elections. And for that the Catholics gave him massive support as their member. Disgruntled Frank Bwalya is an example. So, some of you bringing in HH into this are kind of delusional, and please, leave HH out of this.

I think you may be right. I Honestly support HH for intellect or any other president that will be better than Lungu and remove the Sata Kaponya syndrome.
Zambia will only change leaders after 2021. By this time there would have been total collapse at Zimbabwe Level of currency value and starvation. Murders, Thieving complete collapse of the country before the masses realise. Am now praying for complete chaos . Viva Edgar so the country becomes like Burundi. I want Zambians to suffer for the decisions that have been made.
Its the only way.
