President Edgar Lungu And His Chickening Out At BBC

It’s a shame that some names amongst our number are still swamped in the mistaken belief that been Interviewed by a white man is something prestigious and something that elevates a black mans standing. So to them , missing a BBC interview makes you a political failure and attending it makes you a Political Messiah
From where I see things, it seems that our collective stupidity is driving us to the brink of catastrophe. This makes me think that we should develop our collective intelligence — and soon. We need ways to better reflect together, to develop positive responses to our shared circumstances, and to co-create our common future. The bad news is that our adversarial, fragmentary political culture actually impedes us in these efforts. The good news is that tools exist which, if we use them well, could move us beyond the stupifying dynamics of our political culture.
What was so important about the president leaving his schedule just to go and feature on BBC? what’s so special about BBC? compared to his already made program?
I strongly believe that we do have competent journalist in this country who can handle a high profile interviews, besides, a local journalist who is living and experiencing the economic challenges will be in a better position to interview the President.
I don’t see how missing an Interview organized by a media house with Imperialistic tendencies can amount to an Embarrassment. The BBC always attempt to amplify African problems and make situations look bleak and hopeless. Remember how their propaganda messed up Zimbabwe.
We have to stop looking for solutions from outside, and reflect correctly.
By the way, I don’t hate the BBC I just don’t like Its Editorial agenda. To put an African man down.

We need a leader who can present the position of his government its successes difficulties and strategies to the world in an intelligent way. Nonsensical article. First BBC focus on Africa is presented by Blacks/Africans. The truth is LUNGU lacks confidence and can not articulate anything. Thats the truth! What is so special about a BBC journalist? It was more important to meet the president of China than meeting a person with preconceived ideas.Edgar is a lawyer from THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA (of olden days not ifyama leakages). The president has already made programmes hence there is no need for him to break those programmes.Above all, he has been a very busy man since he went there, meeting different pple on the side line of the UN general Assembly and if you look at his schedule, you’ll find that he has no resting time.

This is so dumb hogwash, drivel at its best, the interviewer is not white, he’s African. This is a missed opportunity to explain his economic plan if at all he has any. Lungu shouldn’t be afraid of talking to the media or even talking to white people. You always talk to white “imperialist” when you want to borrow our “Euro Bond” money and then you blame us for all your sheet.
Lungu needs to come out of his cocoon, explain and take ownership of this economic mess. He needs to start talking to the media now.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this article was written by a Julius Malema, who said an interview by BBC definitely the interviewer will be a white person… what kind of bigotry is this? Kikiki BBC has African correspondents based right here in Africa. Last Edgar was interviewed in South Africa he failed terribly… He even said he doesn’t drink with Guy Scott, that’s from a president.

Why did he confirm his availability in the first place if he knew he had tighty programme and only to cancel 2 minutes before the interview? I think Lungu should have used this opportunity to clear all the misconception people have about Zambia. He has never addressed a press conference back home and now he chickens out of BBC interview whta sort of a person is he? The cancellation alone sends wrong signals to the whole world more so that things are not just right in Zambia. Please next time advise him well.

Actually presidential schedules are made weeks and months in advance. This Edgar is possibly being radicalised thru his mentor Mugabe. Why accept the interview only to skip it? This is a president of a country.

Do people really mean what they write? If ECL had a busy schedule, why did he accept the invitation in the first place? By accepting the invitation, that meant the BBC interview was on his schedule for the day. Let him learn to decline invitation before hand instead of changing his mind at the 11th hour.

So surprising a person can have confidence to defend failure, not an ordinary position, but the highest position of the land evading a simple fellow black man interview! And some people liken him to Obama when Obama can talk dozens of speech pages from the head, Lungu can hardly read a page without a bubble.
