Give PF Time, We’re A Young Party – Chama
PF secretary general Davis Chama says Zambians should not expect too much from the PF government at this stage because the party is still young and has only been in government for four years.
And Chama says the tough decisions that the PF is making now are as bitter as chloroquine, but will help develop the country in future. In an interview, Chama said there was need for Zambians to give the PF enough time to develop Zambia. “This party has been in power for four years now. In all fairness, we are a young party in government.
Other governments have been there before. If you want to apportion all the problems on the PF, I always tell people that it is unfair to apportion the blame on President [Edgar] Lungu because this party has been in power for only four years. You cannot diversify the economy under four years,” he said. “I can challenge you, a four-year-old child, can it look after you? It needs to grow, but even when it is growing, you can send it to collect salt to add taste to your relish so that your relish can be tasty and this is what the PF is doing. The PF inherited a lot of problems and challenges and that is why we want to diversify the economy from copper to other sectors.” He said it was not feasible for the PF to transform Zambia within the short period it has been in government.
“This is the phase we have moved in now, like the creation of the IDC (Industrial Development Corporation) so that we can start industrialising and start producing. Even if you are constructing a house, you cannot construct a house within a year, but it may take you three to four years to complete a house. Given a bigger project, even constructing a road… like the Solwezi-Chavuma road, [Frederick] Chiluba started it, [Levy] Mwanawasa, [Rupiah] Banda worked on it and it was completed when president [Michael] Sata was in government,” Chama said. “This diversification of our economy will take a bit of time for the results to start showing and make a positive effect on our economy.
That is why we are in a hurry as the party in government to make sure that we truly diversify; not lip service diversification that has been preached over the years. I have been wondering myself; every government I have heard that has been in power from the time of UNIP talking about diversification. But the question is why up to now we have not diversified our economy?” He said he was confident that Zambians were seeing the work the PF was doing for the country. “We believe in people seeing what we are working on.
There are some short-term things that people will see and there are other long term things that people will see later. I have all the confidence that the Zambian people know and understand what is happening,” Chama said. Asked if the PF was not afraid of losing next year’s general elections, Chama said: “I personally, speaking for myself, I do not succumb to fear because immediately you start fearing, then you are not fit to be a leader. We know what we are doing and people have a right to talk to express their feelings, but we are more than determined …when Moses took the children of Israel, they started blaming him and said, ‘It’s just manna! manna! manna! Even Pharaoh was better’. But you see, because Moses had a vision, he continued and did not succumb to fear when the Israelites were complaining, he pushed on.
Of course, he did not see the Promised Land. Fear is not our portion. But people are free to talk.” And Chama said the PF medicine for healing the economy was bitter, but effective. “Like chloroquine, most of the medicines are bitter when you are taking it but it will cure you. It’s just when you are taking that it tastes bitter, but after a while, you feel much better,” said Chama.

It’s being a long time since i heard of someone taking chloroquine,are some of these medicines not in medical archive journals, doctors help us out here,any side effects? if PF tastes like chloroquine why not phase it out in 2016,that’s why pharmaceutical companies keep improving their medicines everyday better go for other medicines.

In fact all zambians should rise up and declare a no confident vote in the PF government and boot your party out even before the 2016 elections.
