UPND Shouldn’t Be Allowed To Govern, They’ll Concentrate On Rearing Animals – Kambwili
The UPND should not be allowed to govern, they will just concentrate on rearing animals, says chief government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili.
Debating a motion to restructure Cabinet ministries on Thursday evening, Kambwili said it would be wrong to allow UPND to govern. “I am glad that from within UPND, there are people with independent minds like the last speaker (Highvie Hamududu) who is even able to tell the people of Zambia that the depreciation of the kwacha is not caused by President Edgar Lungu and the PF, but the lack of planning from the past; that we never diversified,” Kambwili said. “But some presidents were on the radio yesterday [Wednesday] from the same party saying the kwacha depreciation is because of Edgar Lungu.
The president of the UPND in particular was on Millennium Radio yesterday[Wednesday] lambasting PF and Edgar Lungu that we have failed lamentably and the kwacha [depreciation] is as a result of our poor management. But here is a clever MP from the UPND telling us that ‘no, it’s not you, it’s the past which had no proper planning!’ Are these the people you want to give the country so that they concentrate on animals only and agriculture? We really have to be very careful! Picking up only one ministry that concerns their area, this is unfair! The UPND will only accept to split the ministry of agriculture and livestock and for known reasons!” He accused the UPND of lacking consistency in the manner it was criticising government. “The UPND in particular has been saying ‘we want a new constitution approved’.
Under the new constitution, you want to increase members of parliament to 179; you want to appoint ministers outside Parliament, you want to create provincial parliaments, which one is a bloated government, increasing Cabinet by five ministers or all those issues? Let us be consistent,” Kambwili said. “What we are doing is better for the economy; there is no way you can say you don’t care about splitting the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Mines, when we have so many problems.
Are you telling us you don’t care about the people who live on the Copperbelt? You don’t care about the people in North-Western where there are mines, you only want to care about livestock, let us be very careful with the way we make pronouncements and think about things.
I am losing miners in Luanshya Mine; you think I will be happy to hear such kind of statements? It’s unfair!” He said it was hypocritical for the UPND to claim that the PF was appointing people that were involved in corruption. “We are just from Lubansenshi, one of the candidates you fielded was out of corruption; another one from Lukulu East, seated there, was from corruption so what are we talking about? You are being inconsistent; let us be consistent with what we do…,” said Kambwili.
But Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Matibini censured Kambwili. “Let’s not debate ourselves; we have a very specific motion here! Let’s try as far as possible to limit ourselves to the motion,” said Speaker Matibini.

I asked a well educated Bemba friend of mine during Sata’s rule what the fear was about HH or generally Tonga president. He said honestly our fear is that Tonga president would rule to the exclusion of other tribes. I asked him to visit the high commission here in RSA and all over the world to check the composition of diplomats. I asked him to also check in government and parastatals which tribe was holding the lion’s share of influential jobs since Sata’s became president. He said he wasn’t aware of any biasness. He thought the national cake was evenly distributed through jobs. That is Kambwili. He is talking of how they rule to the exclusion of others.

The mines used to be the largest employer but now its obvious that the mining sector is bedecked with problems, the alternative for a long time has been agriculture and if not for mismanagement the diversification song would have by now yielded the much sought after results. It is a pity and I am sorry to say Kambwili is not thinking straight and the Speaker should have curtailed his line of debate as it must have been nonsense to his colleagues in the house. For Kambwili UPND would concentrate on livestock development and agriculture yet his government is pushing for diversification to strengthen these same sectors. Come to think of it wouldn’t Zambia have already attained surplus in rice production (Luapula, Northern and, Western provinces) and beans (3 crops per season (Luapula, Northern and, Northwestern provinces) if more attention had been paid to manage production? The private sector is the engine for driving diversification and its mostly engaged in agriculture! Kambwili must be censured for short sightedness yet it is understood he is a small time “Kachema” who grazed his animals on Luanshya golf course. What a presidential adviser…..chikopo!

Animal husbandry coupled with agriculture is a lucrative business, Zambia can never be the same. It’s a pity a cabinet minister would sink this low issuing tribal sentiments amid their call for national reconciliation, how can people reconcile like this? It’s a far fetched ambition, God can never grant your request like this! And as Kambwili uttered this nonsense he used energy assimilated from having eaten beef, his family had beef for lunch and breakfast of heavy-milked tea; how then is he opposed to cattle rearing when he is a direct beneficiary, isn’t it being “ukunyela apo uliila”?
Anyway, that’s just how man eventually acts when they run out of ideas / solutions. The entire pf is so hallucinative and many currently suffer from the “HH /UPND amnesia, their fear for leaving gov’t office has wrecked their bones.
Like it or not HH is next in reigns of our national affairs. He instills hope to liberating this economy you pf rascals have brought to the knees just in three years. We have seen that apart from tribe you pf scoundrels have nothing more against visionary HH. No one in pf cabinet can ever debate issues of the economy except violence and mudslinging. No wonder Mr. Lungu embarrassingly ran away from a BBC simple interview, and Sata labeled you “useless ministers”, that’s for real being a useless ministers.

Its high Edgar appoint a level headed person as govt spokesperson. Does it mean that PF is short of people of good calibre to preside on this important ministry. Appoint Dr Simbyakula to head this ministry, i have respect for this minister. Agriculture is the only key to develop this country, if we can lower the cost of seeds, fertilizer and take care of our animals, we can be exporting to the EU and earn forex. The so called global problems is misconstrued, Botswana’s pula has not depreciated like a kwacha even Malawi’s kwacha, Tanzania’s shilling and many currencies in the region. These countries are safe in terms of their investments and no one is losing jobs but here it is happening.

BOTSWANA currently exports Beef worth over $100million to the E.U.
I would rather have a Govt that promotes our beef industry to those levels than one that spends $300,000 to hire private jets for a president with musicians & dancing queens.
The reason the Kwacha has been devalued is because of dependence on Copper. Check how many jobs can be created if the following sectors were jacked up:
a) Poultry = $50million
b) Fish Farming = $50million
c) Horticultural = $50million
d) Tourisim = $200million
e) Gemstone Mining = $100million
f) Metal works = $50million
g) Construction = $50million
etc.

Very logical @Maloza. Kambwili’s sentiments are an affront to unity and diversification. In your post, I feel the poultry industry has been exploited enough at the pvt level in Zambia though value addition is limited. I only wish ECL could grow some ballz and men rethink his winning team.
As at now, the biggest threat to PF is themselves. That is a timely advice.
