The Zambia RevenuZRA Boss Berlin-Msiskae Authority (ZRA) says people have started complying with the law on the 10% withholding tax on rentals.
ZRA Commissioner General Berlin Msiska has told QFM News that progress is being made in ensuring that the law is implemented.
He explains that people initially misunderstood the law on withholding tax due to the publicity strategy that ZRA used that of sending text messages to members of the public instead of the traditional approach of using the media.
Mr. Msiska however, notes with the strategy of text messages, a lot of people where reached which is why there was a lot of debate and people are now responding positively.
He says people are now frequenting ZRA offices trying to understand what the law entails and how to manage it especially under the new tax online system.
Mr Msiska states that it is their hope that landlords will comply with the law especially that it has been there for a long time.

They failed to Tax the mines, yet they want to squeeze tenants, when they never participated in the construction of the house. They squeeze cross-border traders, squeeze Japanese car importers etc.
Glencore CEO Ivan Glasenberg has become one of the worlds richest men after buying Mopani Copper mines for a song.
I’ll take all receipts used for construction of my midadada to ZRA & ask for reimbursement.
