Tanzania Election: Government Ministers Suffer Shock Defeat
Nine Tanzanian government ministers have lost their parliamentary seats to the opposition Ukawa coalition, partial results from Sunday’s vote show.
It is the biggest shock of the election so far which is the most competitive in the country’s history.
The BBC’s Arnold Kayanda in the main city Dar es Salaam says it is a big blow to the governing CCM party.
But it is too early to predict the end of its 54-year rule as there are many results still to be declared, he says.
The electoral commission has until Thursday to announce the final results.
Agriculture Minister Stephen Wasira – a veteran CCM politician of over three decades – is among the high-profile ministers who lost their seats in Sunday’s election.
Others include Investment Minister Christopher Chiza, Deputy Health Minister Stephen Kebwe and Deputy Education Minister Anna Kilango Malecela.
Observers from the European Union have given a positive assessment of the polls.
But they raised several concerns – including the apparent failure of state media to give fair and equitable coverage to the opposition in the build-up to the election.

The worst thing is expected on Edgar Lungu next year. I predict that HH will win by 58% while Lungu will trail by 35%. Edgar Lungu is the most useless president that Zambia has ever had.
Edgar Lungu will lose by wide margin to HH.

WHY GOING FOR PF NEXT YEAR?LUNGU AND HIS PARTY THEY KNOW THIS QUITE WELL,AGRICULTURE,EDUCATION,HEALTH,AND SECTORS OF THE ECONOMY HAVE BEEN DESTROYED.PF BELIEVES IN VIOLENCE,AND NOW THEY THINK VIOLENCE WILL HELP THEM WIN ELECTIONS,THIS TIME MUBEPELEFYE.

am waiting to see how pf will treat opposition coverages on ZNBC after prayers of repentance,reconcialiation and fasting………ruling party in Tanzania thought it was God chosen to continue governing…even here in zambia,some people say pf has come to stay…………pls,our living God,hear the groaning of your oppresed,despised children in UPND,amen.

Kiki we will see these delays in announcing results next year when hh starts leading. We know there will be tampering of results. Pf is losing and even if they use tricks deep down Zambians will know the truth. Vote upnd

Yes, for sure, God will hear our cry come 2016….. No amount of talking will change the outcome of the 2016 results, Political part caldres have a short memory as along as they are eating, they do not mind about others…

I have a strong feeling that if History ia anything to go-by and really does repeat itself, whatever is happening in Tanzania right now will definitely come to pass here in Zambia next year. A good number of Ministers will not make it to Parley again but there will be no change of Govt at Presidential level. Lungu will surely win even by a slight margin of 1%.
