Miles Sampa Resignation Might Bring Kafwafwa In PF

Miles Sampa

Miles Sampa

By Chilufya Tayali

I respect Miles though is one of the politicians I have never interacted with on a personal level but I have been watching him closely because he is young, energetic, ingenuity, courageous, generous, intelligent and ambitious. You would not fail to tell that he is in the early 40s when he is around and talking freely.

Miles has resigned in one of the most mature way in the history of Zambian Politics but that should not make the PF members comfortable and think it is business as usual like the way Hon. Chikwanda presented the 2016 budget.
The resignation of Miles is a challenge on the leadership of Edger Lungu to keep the PF intact otherwise he may soon me dancing around like a soldier on punishment with a sweet potato in his hands.

President Edgar Lungu should not read the beautiful resignation letter of Miles with naivety. The President should traverse the history, in terms of membership and vision, of the PF from the time when it was in opposition, when it wreathed power away from MMD, the time of Sata’s illness, after Sata’s death, what happened at Mulungushi Rock where both Miles and himself emerged as Presidents, then the court cases and reconciliations.

The January 2015 Presidential elections and results must also be considered in terms of the gap between Edgar and HH because that speaks volumes of what may happen next year depending on how the membership issue is handled between now and 2016 General elections.

I took my time sniff around reasons Miles could have resigned, I have not spoken to him (Miles) personally because we have never interacted. Nonetheless, I can trust my well placed sources.

Without dwelling on the details, I concluded that Miles feels sidelined by Edgar Lungu. My sources doubted if Miles has ever had a one on one meeting with the President since he took power. On the other hand Miles’ intelligence has revived to him that a number of reports has been going to the President about him but the President has never engaged him. I tried to check if Miles felt bad that he has not been appointed to full Minister but I was told that he never bothered about that.

If you look back to the attributes I gave Miles in the first paragraph and consider the events after Sata’s death, I think you would have cause to worry about the PF’s unity owing to the resignation of Miles despite of the beautiful letter he wrote to the President. The resignation with immediate effect must also give you a hint of the emotions behind this resignation.

Remember that Miles was crowned President by the so called cartel (according to Richard Sakala though I don’t agree because these people hardly meet)

From my interactions with the PF which I tried to bring out in one of my articles entitled, “I am very upset with the PF today”, you will realize that Miles is not the only PF member feeling disgruntled. This is why I have suggested to the President to traverse the history of the PF and compare it to the current PF under his leadership.

I would be the first person to condemn President Edgar Lungu if PF remains the same, a year after Sata’s death, because life has to go on and change, just like the life of Sata had to change naturally even though one of my grieving brothers suspected foul play but in bemba we say “Uulila tabamucheba pakanwa” which simply means that don’t bother about what the grieving person says (I wish Kabimba new that he would not be in court).

The issue of consideration or concern about the change of the PF after Sata is how the party is evolving. Where is the PF today, how is the PF and who is composed of this party today?

I always remember what my hero and mentor FTJ Chiluba said, when he changed from supporting Sata to RB, that politics is about benefits. Who is benefiting out of PF today? Where are the core members of the PF today?

I don’t like to beat about the bush, but Edgar has embraced a lot of new members in PF and given them good positions leaving out many old members who brought PF into power. It is also a fact that many of the people who actually campaigned heavily for Edgar Lungu himself, are not near him. The goal getters are on the peripheries while he has maintained the tired legs of Shamendas, Chikwandas, Kasondes, Nkandu Luos, Katemas and some other political interns like Mwanakatwes.

The party is also led by an administrator who I appreciate for his integrity but not mobilization but that should not worry you because Mumbi Phiri and Frank Bwalya will do the running.

President Edgar Lungu seems to have replaced the team that won him the cup with players from the losing teams who have not impressed the spectators in the past. But because he is the President he has powers to do it.

Anyway, I am not a PF member and I don’t need a job in PF or government otherwise I would have gotten that from Sata but many people in PF want to be recognized and if they are not, Edgar might have a batch of resignation letters that it might be difficult to be saved by a quick consent order with Davies Chama which saw Bridget Atanga into UPND.

Let me end with a quote from the Bible which our Church Elder HH likes “Where there are no Prophets, people get out of hand, but happy the one who follows commandments.” (Prob 29:18). And the Late Sata said that the PF government will lead the Country based on the 10 commandments.

Hehehe… Lungu trusts so much in impunity Davis Chama, whore Mumbi Phiri and renegade priest Frank Bwalya for his 2016 victory. We know how they move thugs in those Audi caravans armed with all sorts of ammunition. We shall curtail this shit come campaign time. We’re following their thuggery campaign strategies, but we’re preparing ahead of them. Chama will have to test the gun wounds on his flesh, teach Mumbi manners to be a mother and not a father, cause Frank to regret leaving church responsibilities. WATCH OUT….!!

I have a hate and love for this Tayali guy. Hate as he can irritate you with praise songs for whoever he wishes to praise, love as a good observer and analyst of political situations. In this piece I give him 92% most of his views I have said them just few days ago he used the “peripherals” exactly as I said it that Edgar has banned PF founders to the peripherals of the earth. However, Edgar is a good man, PF is gone. Let’s send Edgar back to his defunct law firm in 2016 just for him to see how it feels to be sidelined.

kakolwe, me and you have never or rarely seen eye to eye. However, I will take my hat off to you on that point. It takes a lot for a man and especially a pf supporter to be open to criticism and be as objective as you have portrayed in that comment. My brother kakolwe, you and i simply want what is best for mother zambia. Should HH win, I expect you to keep him on his feet and answerable for his actions. At the end of the day only we zambians can secure a positive future for ourselves

@NEZ, thanx bro. The thing is you never see eye to eye with me coz you only see ‘good’ in anything against Lungu or PF while I stand on objectivity. If HH became president of Zambia, I’ll respect him as my president and he shall receive n8 insult from me. Only fools insult their president because they did not vote for him. Take an example of Jane Mulenga.
As for ECL, am waiting to see how he reacts to this. If he stops the Lincoln, tighten type nuts: he may ride on just fine! But with Mumbi Pili? Katwishi!

Miles still thinks he was the rightful victor to take over Leadership of PF while Edgar should actually be charged for usurping power through false pretence.Showing of hands was not the approved mode of elections. Now Miles has been a deputy minister ever since while prostitutes like Dora and Monde are full cabinet ministers what does that mean.He is right to resign.

However, like you’ve categorically put it President Lungu has really strayed if not gone berserk with power and i wholeheartedly beseech upon him to’ve a closer look around himself, reflect and ponder about this resignation and the impeding ones carefully otherwise, members like me ‘ll choose to abstain in the 2016 tripartite general election.

Hiring people as ministers because they helped pr. ecl into power would be as bad as clan politics Mr. Chilufya. And it is exactly why democracy doesn’t work in many african countries. It would be best if ministerial positions were filled by people based on their credentials. It would be best if ministerial positions were filled by people who went through interviews and evaluation by govt. Administration, and not thr president. This would release the president from the unnecessary responsibility of hiring every jim and jack, smart or dum (mostly dum) into cabinet. This would bring objectivity and some intellectual muscle into cabinet.

The president has got bigger things to worry about compared to worrying about who in the party is happy and who’s not. The task of hiring should be delegated to an administrative committee and shouldn’t be handled by the president!

        November 1, 2015 at 9:30 am

It’s actually practical if u take a moment to think abt it. Kenya has a committee on appointments, it consists of members from majority parties and members from minority parties, the deputy speaker and is chaired by the speaker. This ensures fairness and objectivity on the appointment of ministers. The difference is that they come up with nominees AFTER interviews and evaluation, then finally the president chooses candidates. But in our case, I think that even the task of appointment should be left to a committee on appointments. This would allow the president to focus his energy on bigger country matters.

Nope ask yourself how on earth would one take on outsider rejects to take up cabinet posts while his own die hard members are juniors to to new comers. In US even a post of Chief justice or speaker needs approval by the Senate and at capitol hill (cabinet). Lungu lacks balls we all saw this last year as he fired hired refire PF seniors based on who pulls the strings stronger that day.

WHAT I AM SAYING IS hiring a minister based on how he helped u get to office is bad (case of hon. Kambwili) and clan politics is bad (case of hon. Dora siliya). We should use a more unbiased means of hiring. Through evaluation of potential candidates by someone who is not the president. I think that’s the simplest form of english I can use to express myself.

There is an inscription on the CNN owner Ted Tanner’s office table that says and i quote “IF YOU CAN’T LEAD THEN FOLLOW AND IF YOU CAN’T FOLLOW THEN GET OUT OF THE WAY” this statement as harsh as it appears within it is hidden loyalty and submission which are the ingredients of those would be future leaders. coming to Miles Sampa, yes he might be a factor in PF but over dependence on certain people is equally bad, remember Sata did not depend on individuals so much. he got rid of those 22 rebel MPs, he got rid of UPND pact but still achieved his goal. Some people are not the end in themselves but the means to achieve certain goals and may fallout as the goal is achieved. This sounds bad but its the truth any where.

I also wish you could see the organisation in the ‘so-called’ strongholds. Party structures have stagnated over the past 4 years and that useless SG can knit mobilize the grassroots. While the opposition regroups, the SG and his Deputy are tugged along following the president everywhere he goes (limbi naku pit latrine). It is you, ba PF, who may be shocked.

Like I told you before, It may be you coming up to the level of my reasoning. I have changed NO mind at all. I speak OBJECTIVELY and advise parties to learn from their mistakes. I’ll tell PF, Narep, PP their shortcomings. If tell UPND theirs, am branded as a beneficiary of PFools’ loot by your kind. Am happy to have you taste thus level of objectivity though I know that you’ll insult me when next I point out UPND’s shortcomings.

Kakolwe it is good to be honest with oneself at all times. It is no lie that you have been a blind supporter of pf over the years I have been on this website. You lacked objectivity . Just last we you had no problems with the strategy pf are taking. So please do not patronise us. The evidence is here for all to see on old articles. You had a very foul mouth and we’re always anti upnd even on logical issues. Anyway it us good that you have changed for better. Welcome to . civilisation son.

And when did I become Pro-UPND?
That is just what shows your abject stupidity. When I state the wrongs in PF, even if I ditch PF, I do not automatically become UPND. The failure of PF does not make UPND to be a success. Yes, I had a vulgar mouth in comments an repented when sensible loggers objected at my response to your Jane Mulenga. That is human. And I hope the PF learns from my observations. UPND too!

Nope @kakolwe you dug too much into what NEZ said he said welcome to civilization not to UPND. Unless there is another posting I never saw. Actually as far as I know you you ve come out hard on PF several times b4 so this doesn’t mean you have shifted camp.

Am alright @Kayula. Yes, if we do not point out the wrongs or the miscues that are happening within the party, then the president may NEVER know what us happening. I point out the stagnation in party structures, the groanings of the grassroots, etc. The president holds on to a non performing SG. That is suicidal. But, if actions are taken to mitigate these challenges, results may be seen.
What makes me wonder is what makes your pal @NEZ think that when my yogurt goes bad in the fridge, then the feaces in the pit next door become yogurt?

kakolwe it is good that you are now experiencing the same frustrations that we in the opposition have been talking about. It is eivdent from what you are saying, that the the pf is a stubborn party with leaders that do not listen to advice. In other words you are saiyng that the president does not listen and that your structure system has failed. Now when NEZ comes here and says that the upnd has offered pf many solutions which have been ignored, would u deny that? If nez went on to say that the pf has failed to manage zambia because they have failed even to organise themselves internally as a party, would u refuse? Now that you have become objective, i hope to see an objective reply to these points

LORD GOD ALMIGHTY! Give me patience for boys such as this one called NEZ.
Now that you’ve seen my objectivity. Listen to what makes me cry.
If PF stopped listening to the voice of reason and became as the main contender, UPND, which disregards its own constitution, has no internal democracy and parades itself as the ONLY hope for Zambia, how doomed can we be as a nation?
If Lungu becomes as dictatorial as Hichilema, starts making personal appointments at the fling of their whims, what better Zambia would that be?

you talk of constitution and yet lungu has abrogated the current one by directing police on opposition leaders. By holding both minister of defence and presidential roles. By having deputy ministers at cabinet meetings. On top of this the pf promised you and i a new consitution but upto now they are using delay tactics as they are aware that the current constitition is benefifical to them as it places more power in the president and ruling party. You can go and read the upnd constitution and see that hh has alwways acted in line with the party rules. If he did not then he wouldnt have mandate and wouldnt be president of upnd. ukose kakolwe

@kakolwe yes things are rotting in PF even some sensible members are openly expressing their frustrations with Edgar lack of leadership skill but that doesn’t make UPND to be full of angels. No, but it’s a party I see alot of intellectuals prefers and these are same intellectuals like you and me who will be willing to help our country I just can’t do that under president Lungu – he hates intellectuals I believe, that’s why he surrounds himself with weird characters as advisors and ministers.

@kakolwe just debate with reasoning though yes sometimes he comes out like a cadre. If you see him condemning how PF is rotting from inside, he says it as he sees it. We have long been telling you this PF of today is not the same I knew under Sata . Edgar’s stubbornness and lack of direction will make PF go into archives like UNIP, mark my words.

You started so well, starting to slowly turn into the usual pathological liar you are , what is so democratic about the the kabwe pf kafwafwa for party presidency gathering? Where the one who made it through stood against a frog, and voted by a show of legs, hands and pangas, if that’s democracy by pf standards am afraid that is a strange democracy you got there,he was imposed on the party by that old lady, anyone opposing was not allowed to dare step foot near mulungushi rock, ba za yellow one the presidential candidates twabasangile by the roadside 5,7 kilometers, what was he running away from? Then came the “reconciliations” which will soon turn into “self immolations and annihilation”. Am sure the 18th October prayers are slowly opening the eyes of the pf members who were duped into accepting his party presidency.

@Kakolwe, thanks for your wise answering however i have few observations to make:
1- I have never seen NEZ and JJB expose their leaders on this platform
2- Our weaknesses should be confined within our party precinct not to give opposition advantage
3- Let us uphold brothers keeper policy.
Thanks again Kakolwe still confident of your contributions

DM can you please confirm what you mean by expose? Maybe you meant to say that we do not objectively criticise our leader? For your information we do internally hence he doesnt come up with foolish things in public like your lungu does. Lungu does not listen to his people and has foolish advisors.

I personally give objective criticism to HH if i see he acted or said something unpalatable in public. Even when he comes to power he will be analysed thru n thru but one thing about him he listens. Edgar lacks that trait, Edgar spends alot of time creating his image (as a goodie goodie to others even in MMD) at the expense of thinking, planning & building the nation.
