Kenyans Stuck In ’50km’ Traffic Jam On Nairobi-Mombasa Road

Kenyan police have been deployed to ease a traffic jam reportedly stretching for 50km (30 miles) on the highway between Mombasa and Nairobi.

The road is crucial for East Africa’s economy as it links the port of Mombasa to landlocked countries, such as Uganda, South Sudan and Rwanda.

The worst-affected area is around Taru, about 80km from Mombasa.

Correspondents say the jam has been caused by repairs to the road following heavy rains.

I have worked in Kenya and it is horrible traffic there. Zambia under pf is going similar way as cars are increasing but pf are doing nothing to plan for these increases. The pf will only wake up when the problem is worse like they did with loadshedding

I am not a PF fan and neither am I too concerned about politics coz it’s all a lie anyway, however you are going to sit there and with a straight face write that the PF are not doing anything about it, either u living abroad and receiving very poor distorted data or u just a hater. Either way statements such as yours is what is making people in the diaspora think nothing is happening here. Be real for crying out loud.

truth seeker please list 5 steps that the PF have taken to reduce the traffic problem in lusaka. And no, building roads or making roads better is not a solution you daft fool. You should understand that the lusaka road network is still the same that the colonial master left behind. So please do not come here with that stupid mentality. I spend more than half of every year in zambia and the rest travelling due to my job as strategist of the UPND. I am zambian and only hold zambian passport. What diaspora? kiki ukose

      So to you load shading is because of PF! Poor fellows, no wonder you have no direction. For how long has PF been in power? The problem stems from many years back. If anything, the PF is fixing the problem through construction of;
      – Chavuma Hydro Plant
      – Kabompo hydro plant
      – Maamba coal powered plant
      – Lumwana hydro plant
      – Kafue lower
      – Expansion of Musonda Falls.
It is only NED and other people like him who are ignorant about these developments. PF is far ahead of NED’S thinking.

Hey john chinini the problems have been exacerbated due to PF’s failure to implement policies that would have absorbed any external pressures on our economy. The pf left everything to last minute because as their president said, he lacked vision. Since you think we in upnd are just saying this for political gains, I will quote a statement from the IMF which was made availabe just today:

“In recent months, the pressures on the economy have not only reflected the impact of external shocks but also waning market confidence. Fiscal discipline has been undermined by additional spending commitments that stand in contrast to lower-than-budgeted revenues,’ he said,
‘Further, delayed implementation of critical policy pronouncements such as ensuring cost-reflective pricing of petroleum products and electricity continues to impact negatively on the budget.”

you see a dull person will think that by pf saying they will build all these hydro plants then they are doing the right thing and yet a sane person who thinks would be questioning where the money will come from. This is because as things stand we cannot afford to spend on infrastructures that we cannot afford. Oh and your party told us that the reason we have load shedding is due to lack of rainfall. So why are they building more hydro plants? I thought hdro plants needed water? olo limbi they are magical plants kikikiki

It’s a temporal problem while roadworks are on going, which was caused by a heavy downpour.

Ba NED, are talking if your 1988 model? Your friends are driving new cars now. Just get rid of your junk and buy a new car. Of course if you start being productive other than spending all your time on the net.
