UPND MPs Behave Like ‘Basuzuki’

I can’t understand how Members of Parliament who are elected by people would walk out of a Legislative assembly in order to prove a point. In modern-day politics you don’t walk out. You stand your ground. Walking out or away from a challenge or issue is a sign of “Busuzuki”( a coward ).

The walking out of UPND MPs from Parliament proceeding is not their first. UPND are on record of refraining from voting or walking out of parliament after ukusheta(using) money they got from the constitution making process some years back.

If they are aggrieved let them put things before the house. Walking out of parliament is just a sign of busuzuki, buboya nabumbuli(cowardice). Let them not lie that they are doing it for Zambians. Which Zambians are they talking about. Is it the same Zambian banwunyile(they swindled)money when they walked out of Parliament when it was time to take a vote on the course of the constitution.

People have not forgotten how UPND MPs on 29 March 2011 abstained from voting on the Constitution of Zambia Bill, resulting in the failure to earn a two-thirds majority for the bill to go through second reading in Parliament. It is in fact Zambians who should demand taxpayers’ money collected as allowances during the National Constitutional Conference (NCC) sittings. Today they walk out and say they are doing it for Zambians.

UPND Choma MP Cornelius Mweetwa should not cheat people. He and his fellow MPs are just frustrated in their party where they have a wamuyayaya(forever) leader. We all understand how it feels when you are trying to succeeded as a young politician in your party only to be overlooked for a chilolo(wealth man). If Mweetwa and his fellows want to speak for people they should first do it for people in UPND. Let them not remove their frustration on other things.

I know the central government has a mandate to facilitate development and see that peace is safeguarded. The question is what have these boycotting UPND MP done for the people they represent? Those are the people they should be talking about. They are in parliament representing people who voted for them and not their party. People first guys.

So before walking out they should ask themselves what they have done to facilitate social and economic development in their constituencies. These are questions people should also be asking. Questions like: What has Mweetwa done in Choma? What has Gary Nkombo done in Mazabuka Central? Hamududu Highvie in Bweengwa or what has Mwiimbu Jacob done in Monze Central?Or what has Lufuma Ambrose done in Kabompo West. The answer is probably close to nothing.

What about Regina Musokotwane what has she done in Katombola. Oh let’s see. The only thing she is known for is being one of the vice chairpersons of the NCC who later stayed away from voting for the bill despite getting allowances. So give us a break and go back and do your job. Not just walking out ( mungulu mungulu ati nifwe ba opposition).

One of the few UPND MPs seen to be doing something and working for his people is Hon Njeulu Poniso in Sinjembela. The others nibasuzuki.

It is so shocking when these people who hide in the name of providing checks and balances can do what they want. This is because we live in a society that is only critical about the party in power. These opposition MPs are just left alone like they were not elected to serve their constituencies.

I have said it before opposition political parties are not immune to criticises. Even the feeling and thought that MPs should just walk out of parliament whenever they want should not be tolerated. When they are at Parliament Buildings they are at work and we expect them to do their job and not busuzuki.

UPND should read between political lines. Otherwise they are just digging their own grave. Politics are changing. We need opposition parties that are truthful in their deeds. We need a strong and sane opposition. An opposition which doesn’t play double standards. We don’t need opposition yalunyenye(cry babies)

If protesting against the violent hacking of Zambians in kitwe by pf thugs is cowardice, what does it make pf MPs? I guess they are toilets any jim and jack can sit on and they gladly take any shit, pumping their pot-belly selves with water and shouting ye, ye, ye! Even when a visionless chap is imposed on them by a old witch, they still take in that, typical of toilets.
