Veep Denies Banning Rallies on The Copperbelt
Vice President Inonge Win says her statement in Parliament last week on opposition political party meetings on the Copperbelt has been taken out of context.
During the Vice President’s question time this morning, Ms. Wina says at no point did she insinInonge-Wina-Veepuate that all political meetings on the Copperbelt had been banned.
She says what she said was that at the time the UPND requested for permission to hold meetings on the Copperbelt, President Edgar Lungu was in the province engaging mining companies on how issues relating to their operations could be resolved.
She says while every political party has a right to hold a political rally, Police on the Copperbelt could have at that particular time deemed it not appropriate for political meetings after assessing the situation.
Ms. Wina says it is only those who are taking her statement on political meetings on the Copperbelt out of context who know their reasons.
She states that Zambians and political parties in particular have the right to hold rallies anywhere in the country provided they follow what is provided in the law.
Asked by MMD Mumbwa Member of Parliament Brian Chituwo whether she still stands by her statement that political parties should not go to the Copperbelt because of the challenges being faced in the mining province, Ms. Wina said there is no way Dr. Chituwo would suggest that she is changing her statement.

To you political leaders cant be in the same province at the same time? How then do they manage both Lungu and HH in the same Lusaka Province? This menopausal woman just to retire, if Edgar dropped dead today this is the kind of a leader to take over? Indeed we lack leaders in Zambia then, its either sickly, cabbages, insane, or a combination of the above.

there IS A difference between a president of an organization and the President of the Republic of Zambia. Come election time only Edgar will be allowed to use GRZ resources. What your man is doing is to prove a situation where PF will be accused of suppression. Why didn’t HH go to near by Luapula. Why CB when the Republican President is here? As a person aspiring for presidency HH must not set a bad precedence, it will come to haunt him.

At that time when caders clashed president ECL was purported to have a holiday while HH as well was mobilising support for his party. It caught to our president’s attention when the good news about HH’s performance in the area reached him. Anger revealed his character by commanding the police to disperse HH’s gatherings. Sad to have such people in our country who fail to mind their own businesses when the wind blows…

Let us unite come 2016 elections. No fighting no blood shed just load shedding. Let us register as voters and vote wisely. But how are we going to be voting with this load shedding and how are polling stations going to be counting votes in the dark. What assessing the situation?? If lungu is busy meeting his fellow crooks in privacy what has that got to do with HH holding a rally? The pf have now looked stupid because the POA will soon backfire on them. It seems the POA only applies against oppostion parties and leaders. Inonge knows and that is why she has come out with a silly excuse. Deep down you know what is happening is an injustice. However, nothing will stop change. Looking at the number of new registered voters it shows how much change people want.
