China Pledges $60Bn To Develop Africa

China has announced $60bn (£40bn) of assistance and loans for Africa to help with the development of the continent.

President Xi Jinping said the package would include zero-interest loans as well as scholarships and training for thousands of Africans.

The Chinese leader made the announcement at a major summit between China and Africa in Johannesburg.

The momentum of rapid growth in Africa was “unstoppable”, Mr Xi told more than 35 African heads of state.

South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma, who is joint host at the summit, welcomed Africa and China’s deepening partnership.

“China has become Africa’s largest trade partner, and Africa is now one of China’s major import sources and fourth largest investment destination. This partnership can only yield further positive results for Africa’s development,” Mr Zuma said.

Africa nids to embrace both the west and far east for its stability. This why Zambia is badly hit by low demand of copper from china.

I liked the speech by Bob. A country that never colonised us yesterday, is the one helping us.

Problem Africa all it has been doing is just spreading it’s legs and anyone with an accent is welcome. Even these billions with our African Govts poor governance, corruption and lack of accountability most will be used to enrich the few, a problem compounded by China lack of emphasis on checks and balances by African leaders, Zambia not spared. Otherwise we should thankful to countries like China which comes with little strings attached to aid compared to USA by now it would ve been building massive millitaey bases strategically across the continent.

Indeed as uncle Bob alluded to the West should be ashamed especially Britain they screwd our countries inside out and only to dump the continent then gave us a middle name ati “commonwealth” then every few yrs every colonial country with this commonwealth name should send their kids to go and compete at its commonwealth games in amusement of the it’s Queen. I wish all commonwealth countries should stop participating in these games and concentrate on building our countries with partners like China.
