‘He Accuses Me Of Flirting With My Boss’

A Lusaka housewife told a Local Court that her husband is a jealous man who often accuses her of flirting with her boss.

Rachael Mtonga,25, of Matero compound was testifying in a case in which her husband, Gilbert Maliwa, 29, of Garden House sued her for divorce.

The two got married in 2012 and have one child.

Maliwa told Senior Court Magistrate Sarah Nyendwa sitting with Magistrates Ackim Phiri and Daniel Phiri at Kanyama Local Court that problems started after one year into their marriage when Mtonga secured a job at National Housing Authority.

He said Mtonga then started denying him conjugal rights by putting a child in between to avoid any body contacts with him.

He explained that even Mtonga’s mother did respect him because she insulted him at times, adding that when he slapped his wife in September she told him she no longer loved him.

Maliwa further told the court that Mtonga’s boss phoned her at awkward times and that she did not bring her pay home but instead took it to her parents.

Maliwa said his wife always came home at 21.00 hours and that when they differed over the matter she left matrimonial home.

In defence, Mtonga said that just after six months into marriage Maliwa started to complain about the high dowry he was charged and did not give her money for housekeep.

Mtonga said Maliwa did not buy her clothes not even an under wear and refused to be touched because he claimed that she was dirty. He refused to shave her pubic hair.

Mtonga further stated that Maliwa accused her of flirting with her boss and that he went to work in Siavonga without informing her.

Magistrate Nyendwa granted the couple divorce without compensation but Maliwa was tild to be paying child maintenance fee of K250 per month. Property acquired together to be shared equally.

Bane all these silly cases and the damage to the family unit in zambia are down to economic mismanagement which has been made worse under the pf government. When you have a situation whereby women can be easily seduced with a bar of geisha soap it then becomes very difficult to ensure fidelity in relationships. The economy is a very powerful thing that transcends all the way to the social aspects of life. Vote upnd

Question: “What is the difference between fornication and adultery?”

Answer: The modern dictionary definitions of fornication (voluntary sexual intercourse between persons not married to each other, which would include adultery) and adultery (voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a partner other than the lawful spouse) are simple enough, but the Bible gives us greater insight into how God perceives these two sexual sins. In the Bible, both are referred to literally, but both are also used figuratively to refer to idolatry.

In the Old Testament, all sexual sin was forbidden by the Mosaic Law and Jewish custom. However, the Hebrew word translated “fornication” in the Old Testament was also in the context of idolatry, also called spiritual whoredom. In 2 Chronicles 21:10-14, God struck Jehoram with plagues and diseases because he led the people into idolatry. He “caused the people of Jerusalem to commit fornication” (v. 11, KJV) and “to go lusting like the fornications of the house of Ahab” (v. 13 NKJV). King Ahab was the husband of Jezebel, a priestess of the lascivious god Baal, who led the Israelites into idol worship of the most egregious kind. In Ezekiel 16, the prophet Ezekiel describes in detail the history of God’s people turning away from Him to “play the harlot” with other gods. The word “fornication,” meaning idolatry, is used numerous times in this chapter alone. As the Israelites became known among the nations round about them for their wisdom, riches, and power, which was a snare to them as a woman’s beauty is to her, they were admired and courted and complimented by their neighbors, and so drawn into idolatrous practices. The word “fornication” is used in connection with pagan idolatry because much of pagan “worship” included sex in their rites. Temple prostitutes were common in the worship of Baal and other false gods. Sexual sin of all kinds was not only accepted in these religions, but encouraged as a means to greater blessings from the gods for the worshippers, particularly in the increase of their flocks and crops
