Chishimba, Kalaba, Sata, Simbyakula Say No To Mutati

There’s is growing discontent in the ruling PF over the rumoured covenant between president Edgar Lungu and renegade MMD MPs led by Lunte MP Felix Mutati, impeccable sources have revealed.

The deal that should see Hon. Mutati being adopted as presidential running mate in next year’s elections, is being strongly opposed by presidential hopefuls: Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili, Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba, State House deputy minister Mulenga Sata and Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula – who see the prospect of Mutati one day taking over the presidency of PF a bitter pill to swallow.

“Yes, I can confirm that the four gentlemen are strongly opposed to these manoeuvres by EL,” confided the source. “You are certainly aware that these gentlemen together with Hon. Sampa have presidential ambitions, now imagine the prospect of an MMD MP taking over PF.”

Although others have come out in the open, Dr. Simbyakula silently thought he was an automatic successor to the presidency because of being a fellow Lawyer and the confidence President Lungu places in him.

“Dr. Simbyakula and ba kateka are close. The president trusts him more than anyone, not even vice president Inonge. So naturally, the Doc thought he was the right hand man, but these rumours circulating have unsettled him, he feels betrayed,” said the source.

“In fact, it’s not only the four (Kambwili, Sata and Ngosa), others like Kapata, Mumbi Phiri and Nkandu Luo feel are equally annoyed. They think kateka is defiling the toils of late president, as these had a more personal touch with his (Sata) suffering under MMD.”

The source has also revealed that the moment the Zambian Watchdog leaked the clandestine operation, Harry Kalaba immediately sought audience with president Lungu, but he was turned down.

Felix Mutati is seen by many as an intelligent, eloquent and visionary leader and a better alternative in the Zambian political dispensation. Based on these traits, it is believe president Lungu wants to bring in the former commerce minister to launder PF’s tainted image especially in northern province. Sources have revealed that in return, Mutati will not only be rewarded with the vice presidency (should Lungu win next year), but he’ll take over the PF in the near future.

Mutati should not surely make people doubt of his maturity by changing posts every time he smells election and top two post opportunity
