THE Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) is issuing tax clearance certificates to taxpayers on request irrespective of their outstanding tax liabilities, following President Lungu’s directive.
Last month, President Lungu directed the review of the presumptive tax policy and its administration which affects transport operators.
This is according to a statement issued by ZRA corporate communications unit yesterday.
ZRA says the change on the presumptive tax policy is being addressed by the Ministry of Finance.
“ZRA wishes to inform members of the public that its offices are issuing tax clearance certificates to taxpayers on request notwithstanding their outstanding tax liabilities,” the statement reads.
So what does Tax clearance certificate mean?
Does Lungu even have to meddle in such matters? Can’t he leave ZRA to operate in a proffessional manner?
Zambia has one of the best institutions in place .If left to operate independently frm politicians it can do exceptionaly well. ZRA (zombies Run Amok)is a very senstive organ of govt and shud be left to profesionals to run, not state house.
