Picture: Traffic Cops Impound Wedding Car Leaving Groom Stranded

BenzLusaka traffic Officers this morning caused a stir in Libala South when they impounded two cars in a wedding convoy leaving the Groom and the bridal party stranded for hours.

Whilst the bride was waiting for her man to walk her down the aisle, intense negotiations where playing out as the cops refused to badge in and let go of the car.

Its just beyond humanity one has to want to blow up a couples’ most beautiful day in their lives. Thats why am saying these are PFs where intimidation is the order of the day, UPND cant intimidate since there is no Govt machinery it can use on citizens.

So when / if UPND come into power will all cops be sacked and replaced by “UPND” cops Or better still will the current rotten bunch become UPND supporters and undergo a morality transplant overnight?

            December 18, 2015 at 1:09 pm

Kikiki good question, there two times of corruption physical (money exchange, nepotism, favours etc) and morally. These cops are both ways corrupt, on moral grounds if a leader does not put his foot down to discipline them they take advantage of that weakness and do things their way – after all the boss is cool with it, the incoming Govt should be taking them to book and discipline them. Look at the gun shooting issues so far, is there anyone convicted yet, nope so what will stop another chap do them? So UPND Govt has to put a no tolerance to policy brutality then things like this will REDUCE.

    Ask yourselves these questions
1.what if the car was a stolen vehicle?
2.What if the car entered Zambia ilegaly?
3.What if the driver was unliscensed?
4.What if the car was not lisenced?

Common sense is lacking under the pf police state. Am sure further investigations will show that probably the groom or the bride are somewhat UPND or opposition sympathisers. Surely the police need to use common sense and be humane in certain cases. Surely they would have informed the groom of the need to impound the cars but then allow them to get married even if it meant the police keeping an eye on those cars. after ceremony then sit the people down and say we have a problemw with the cars. Please we are only human and there is no need for such disgusting behaviour

I do not need to be on every online website because we have many others everywhere spreading the message . A road block in a residential thicket, this economy sure! Let the new IG work on these traffic officers, too corrupt. Let him enforce name tag wearing with man numbers and open up a complaint book at each police station were affected individuals should personally lodge in and sign off complaints against these officers, which in then should be periodically be inspected by the top police command. This I am sure will help bring sanity in the system.

It’s not all traffic offenses that needs or rather should result in enpounding a vehicle. It’s just that most of us Zambians are not aware of the laws with respect to traffic and or road usage. There are offenses that an officer should only caution the drive .. like a faulty light or stuff like that. There are also offenses which attract a penalty like locking up a driver for example dangerous driving , other offenses are ones that requires a driver to pay an admission of guilty if not he or she will be taken to court. RATSA has to sensitive the people about the effects of breaking road traffic rules. They need to post online and or in the news papers the road traffic offenses and the punishment
for the offense caused by the driver. Not uyu umusebanya. Ba police naba RATSA be professional mumibombele yenu. Too much corruption Pa zed. Vote wisely next year

      Very childish.
About the storyline: “Can someone confirm for me if a wedding convoy legalises all illegal traffic offenses?”
Law says no person should hung from the windows or sunroof in a moving vehicle, but pamaweddings epo musamwa! Why? To condemn a fact without exhaustive facts is as stupid as hakainde proclaiming himself winner of the polls 15 months before anybody casts the vote.
