Sampa: I Won’t Quit PF

MATERO member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa says he will not resign from the Patriotic Front (PF) without consulting his relatives countrywide because he is a founder member of the ruling party.
And PF secretary-general Davies Chama has appealed to members to avoid acting on rumours and speculation created by individuals bent on destabilising the party.
Mr Sampa said individuals who are demanding his resignation from PF do not know the history of the party.
Speaking when he addressed his supporters and reopened his office at Central Park in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Sampa said he is a member of the central committee (MCC) and only reports and talks to President Lungu or Mr Chama if there is an issue.
“They are calling for my resignation because they do not know the history of the PF. They were not there when we suffered with President Michael Sata to build the party. I, therefore, cannot resign without consultation from my relatives countrywide,” he said.
Mr Sampa said the 24-hour ultimatum given to him to resign is unattainable.
He requested members asking him to resign to give him a month to go on a countrywide tour to seek advice from his relatives in all the provinces.
He said the protesters should not speak on behalf of the entire Matero constituency but should instead maintain peace and never attempt to close his office again.
“The office has been opened and it will never be closed again because I signed a one-year contract to operate from here. This is not a public property and that is why I am bringing in tight security to protect myself,” Mr Sampa said.
And Mr Chama said it is not the policy of the PF to speak on behalf of others, especially asking any member to resign without basis.
“Rumour-mongering and speculation only brings confusion to the party. We should not allow stories from people and media houses that only want to see confusion in the party to distract us,” he said.
And Mr Chama said Mr Sampa should not be asked to leave the party but should be left to decide the path he wants to take for himself.
He said his mandate as PF secretary-general is to mobilise the party and to ensure that structures and members remain intact and not to chase people.
Mr Chama said he talked to Mr Sampa after he relinquished his position as deputy minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry and that he pledged loyalty to President Lungu and the party.
He said Mr Sampa said at a joint press briefing that the only thing that would make him leave PF is death, and that stories of him wanting to leave or form his own political party are mere speculation.
Mr Chama said Mr Sampa remains a PF member.
He, however, advised Mr Sampa not to “burn bridges” if he plans to leave.
Some PF members in Matero constituency on Tuesday dared Mr Sampa to resign and prove his popularity claim.

He should not resign. Let him help destroy the party that he helped form. I’m sure he is making a lot of money now from his sponsors. PF is finished.

the truth is sampa is frustrated with one or two things in pf but he knows very well that he canot make a mistake of joining upnd coz it will take time for them to form gvt! he wud rather remain not very active in pf en wait for his time to be presdo than in a party were he is sure he will never be president!!

If there are differences please seat and discuss. the problem will not go away when you quit rather the problem shall go with you wherever you go even when you decide to go it your own way. Differences will always be there and that’s the reason we are called individuals and have indeed individual minds. Am sure that the entire cabinet cannot be against you and for what reason? You are not in this for your family but for mother Zambia. Even when the rest say “stay” and your mind is not clear, will not work because we are what our mind tells to be.

I liked this comment from a blogger:-

“there would not have been a WW2 if Germany was dealt with decisively during WW1”

    This is another GBM issue.
Fat Albert still clings to PF membership so that he gets the gratuity only. Even Sampa’s interest now is gratuity.

You people who always say are founder members you amaze me. You forget that even the people like me who supported you through two electro loses until we won are also critical that we should not be played around like this.

Viva Honorable Sampa, stay calm we need you in PF, you bring quality leadership and good competition to our party; this is healthy for intra democracy.
As a party we believe in a leadership that is called to serve, not to be served; pro-poor ideology.

    Thank you peace loving Zambians.

But what sort of party is the PF which allows members that bring it into disrepute to remain within its ranks? and now Sampa makes it look like remaining a member of PF is UP TO HIM, whatever good or bad he does to the party. This is utter NONSENSE!

  11. mj banda   January 15, 2016 at 4:37 pm

Is this making the party strong by sampa?

  12. Chovix   January 15, 2016 at 4:45 pm

Sampa is putting PF at ramsom even if he wants to be rewarded for withdrawing that case over the presidency of PF this is not the way to go. So if he wants to go let him go without burning bridges tabasha waponta.

Miles miles smile and feel happy in the coocoon you have created in your party. Miles you can be a useful member of your party if you try to follow the name of the game, but the way l look at it is that you have become a distractor and liability to your party you helped to form. The best you can do is to stand your ground and indicate what you what to be than be there playing a cat and mouse game. Miles, l guess you have cleverly ocastrated your vector if not, you will happen to demise your political career. Politics is a game of speculations. Do not harness what is not there on the ground until you grasp it in your hand and mind. Miles let not you relatives think for you, l bloody sure you have the right mental faculty to ajudicate your decisions wisely.
