Kalomo Youths Who Booed President Lungu Arrested

POLICE in Kalomo has nabbed two suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres who are alleged to be among the group of youth that caused political violence which occurred during president Edgar Lungu’s visit to the district last Tuesday.
Police sources confirmed the arrest to Zanis in Kalomo who have since appeared in the local subordinate court charged with proposing violence while a dragnet for others believed to have been involved in the incident has intensified.
However the local police sources could not give more details over the matter and referred all queries to Southern province police commissioner, Godwin Phiri, who could not be reached for a comment by press time.
The duo, Allan Sichibeya 32, of Mwaata compound and Reuben Musimuko 27, of Nasilele farm, have since appeared in court before magistrate Kahonyi Mushabati for plea charged with proposing violence which both have denied.
The case have been adjourned to Monday, January 25 for ruling and trial is set for February 24. The two have since been remanded in the Kalomo state prison with a provision for bail application.
Meanwhile, a gang of UPND cadres yesterday evening stormed the Kalomo state prison after the stipulated visting hours demanding to see the two suspects.
The cadres are reported to have visited the prison past 18 hours demanding to see the two suspects and tried to force their way into the prison causing commotion at the premises forcing officers on guard to fire warning shots to disperse the UPND cadres who were aboard on several fully mounted public address system vehicles playing solidarity music for their party.
President Lungu was in Kalomo last Tuesday where he addressed residents at Green Acres primary school and later inspected progress works at the ultra modern hospital being built in the once first administrative capital of the country but some opposition UPND cadres turned violent trying to block the roads which the head of state was suppose to use and beat up a PF sympathiser.
During his address, the head of state said people were free to choose their leaders of their choice but warned that government would not tolerate lawlessness that threaten the peace of the country.
And some residents talked to have condemned the action by the way the opposition acted themselves saying there were proper channels to register their grievances even if they differed in their political ideologies stressing an incumbent head of state deserves to be accorded the highest respect she or he deserves.

Zambian youths are still locked in primitive politics of intimidation. The problem is NOT which political parties they belong to. The problem is ignorance. They think political power is won by force when it is the voter who decides who to vote for.
For me any political party that harrasses me must know that my vote will NOT be for their party. There is no way I can vote for a party by force. Both UPND and PF have in disciplined youths. It is up to their respective leaders to convince us they are more civilised than their uncouth youths.

Chiwamila galu kuluma mbuzi. Yes, because its the opposition every arm is agaist, but if it was th ruling party doing that to the opposition, there could be no voice. Mind you, the PF cadres have taught others how to do such because they know that no PF cadre can be arrested under Lungu but the opposition. Mwilapapa ifilechitika ni PAMAKA tuli muli ba Lungu.

But @ hidden objects it is the republican president they were trying to emberass we should learn to respect that institution. If you hate an individual fine but we should respect the presidence those youths are setting a very bad pre cent for future presidents it may not be ECL. That is a very bad culture that should be condemned by all well meaning Zambians. Now istead of doing something productive, they will be frequenting the courts and you know how slow our justice system is.Anyway lawyers there lies free money for you to go and pick up.

    Individuos accusados falsamente. #freemypeopleinkalomo.

as country we just can’t brush aside what transpired at simon mwansa KA double pwe international airport, the vehement attack on such an important institution can’t just be swept under the carpet, someone should take responsibility for what happened last weekend, we all know the pf on the copperbelt has denied any involvement, just listened to one the pf chairpersons a mr mpundu on deadNBC news unapologetically refuse to take responsibility, yet the pictures in post were so clear for all to see that procession had the hallmark of pf in all it’s entirety. If those guys did that using pf’s name, let pf sue them for denting the parties image, the number plates are visible on those vehicles, it’s easy to trace and locate the culprits, Ba jerabo it’s funny how you can allow pf to use as political dildos, mwamona bamikana ati tamuli bantu babo.

Zambian must learn to be partriot. Partriot you love the country of your birth and whatsoever belongs to it. all political leaders in office were chosen by the people of zambia. So if we disrespect them, we dishorner the country and the people of zambian. So people are found involved in such violence must be jailed so that the preach against political violence becomes a reality.

I totally agree with you. Ignorance has indeed washed our pride, thinking capacity and has led to poverty. The same ignorance takes away our vision to think of the future. Just a chitenge material one is washed away and yet there is hunger at home where one can’t even share the chitenge or put it in a pot for all the family members to eat.

Fellow Zambians, let us appreciate long lasting solutions to our economical development and poverty alleviation than being washed away over a chitenge material.

What are we achieving from arresting those with different views? Why not sit down and analyse why they booed? It is in the same Province where the ruling Party got the lowest votes and now we are victimising the same people. Fellow PF this does not help but instead it is worsening the situation. We need these people’s votes and we should show remorse and consider their concerns. Booing is a sing of dissatisfaction and that is why there is need to analyse each situation for the better.
