President Edgar Lungu has arrived in Addis Ababa – Ethiopia for the 26th ordinary session of the African Union Heads of State summit.
ZNBC’s Arnold Tutu reports from Addis Ababa that the Presidential Challenger touched down at Bolle International Airport at 19:00 hours Zambian time.
The President was received by Ethiopia’s Minister of State Motuma Mekassa, Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba and Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and the AU Susan Sikaneta along with other Government officials.
President Lungu was accompanied by his Press Aide Amos Chanda and other State House officials
The AU summit will also discuss the establishment of a free trade area by 2017, free movement of people, goods and services and introduction of an African passport.
The summit will also discuss the silencing of the guns project for the establishment of peace and security on the continent among other issues.
The theme for this year’s ordinary session of the African Union is “African year of Human Rights with particular focus on the Rights of Women.”
The summit will discuss the introduction of an Air Transport market, the high speed train project linking all capital cities of Africa.
