Mongu DC Threatens To Close Filing Station Over HH Sticker

MONGU district commissioner Susiku Kamona has threatened to close Suban Filling Station for having a UPND sticker in the manager’s Office.
Kamona, in the company of Mongu PF district youth chairperson Francisco Santos, ordered Suban manager to remove the sticker bearing the image of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
“There is only one President in Zambia and that is His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Whether a private or public-owned institution, there should only be one portrait of a President and that should be that of the current Head of State. As PF, we are in support of local investors but we are not going to tolerate those who want to involve themselves in partisan politics,” Kamona warned.
He threatened to have the filling station closed if it did not remove the sticker.
“We are not going to tolerate this kind of behaviour and if this continues, I will close your business and deport you. But that’s not what we want, we bring you investors to conduct business period; not to involve yourselves in politics; just do your business, that’s all, not politics. As PF, we will continue to support private investors,” said Kamona, a civil servant.

This was unnecessary. The weak are afraid of their own shadows. Why should a civil servant preaching non partisan policies be accompanied by a PF senior party official in the execution of his supposedly “government duties”?

All public and private institutions should only display the potrait of the sitting president thats what the law says, If you are not comfortable with that as a private institution better not display anything it is not a forcing matter.
