The United Nations Resident Representative to Zambia Janet Rogan says the international community has mobilised $7.9 million towards supporting the holding of the August 11, General election.
Ms Rogan says the support to the Electoral Commission of Zambia is aimed at enhancing the electoral process.
She said the funding will be unveiled at a signing ceremony billed for Friday in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, Ms Rogan says she is concerned with the increasing cases of political violence.
She says the violence is threatening public safety.
Ms Rogan was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka.
She said on Wednesday’s violent conduct of cadres at Woodlands police station is unfortunate.

Violence finshi ? Jst sign we share the money twali belela as though kwanu kulibe violence iwe ka ms Rogan.
Can ms rogan tell the nation how much Turkey and China have contributed towards the 2016 elections? I presume the all chuck of this money will come from countries whose diplomats pf cadres despises.
Well we thank you for the support. We in upnd are also of the view that violence has no place in zambian politics. If you follow the case law you will come to see that actually it’s only pf cadres who have been convicted of violence against opposition. We hope that the international community will be vigilant during these elections as we know that the pf have become museveni desperate. We thank you

we will vote in numbers, I pray for a transparent free and fair election.. our belts cannot be tightened any lesser as our spines will snap if we do due to too much suffering and our cries falling on the now deaf politicians ears that only insult, blame failures on anyone and anything but them and persecute whomever disagrees…we see no hope for our children as we hav been educated yet raising our families on a shoestring with ruthless rising cost of living, and our very children will continue to pay for today’s reckless running down of our beloved country, our forefathers that sacrificed their lives during freedom struggle must be turning in anguish in their graves seeing the calibre of the people running today’s affairs. we will vote wisely and pray for better days come August.
