Zambia Drops 2 Places On FIFA Ranking

Zambia has dropped two places on the latest Coca Cola/FIFA Mens FIFA Rankings released in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday morning.

The Chipolopolo are now ranked 78 in the World and 18 in Africa.

In African Cup of Nations opposition watch, Congo is ranked 59th while Kenya is 103rd with Guinea Bissau at 147th.

Zambia’s best ranking came in February 1996 after the African Cup of Nations in South Africa when the Roald Paulsen’s side was ranked 15th in the World.

Between 1993 and 1999, Zambia was always ranked below 40.

There after, Zambia has best ranking was a position 34 following the triumph in Gabon in February 2012.

Cape Verde is still the top ranked team in Africa with Ivory Coast and Algeria second and third respectively. Ghana and Tunisia complete the top 5 while Senegal, Egypt, Congo DR, Congo and Cameroon are in the top 10 in that order.

Nigeria and Guinea in 11th and 12th respectively with Uganda, South Africa and Mali following in that order.

Equatorial Guinea and Benin are also ahead of Zambia and Herve Renard’s Morocco is 19th with Gabon completing Africa’s top 10.
