TWO Zambians have been arrested in Botswana for allegedly possessing an elephant tusk, Western Province commissioner of police Charles Lungu has said.
Mr Lungu said in an interview here yesterday that authorities at Maun Police Headquarters in Botswana informed Sesheke Police Station that Edwin Kasongo, 30, of Lusaka and Shamboko Mwape, 31, of Livingstone were arrested on Saturday.
Mr Lungu said the suspects, who were using a Ford Explorer registration number AJD 6383, were apprehended near Gweta village after allegedly being found with an elephant tusk, which was cut in three pieces.
“This is very unfortunate and I think we have a duty to educate people on the dangers of engaging in such activities as animals, both local and international, need to be preserved, ‘’ he said.

At least we are sure of one thing when we get to run government as UPND starting on 12th August 2016.
