THE Matero Local Court has heard how a married woman of Lusaka deserted her husband after meeting her married former lover who later dumped her when she fell pregnant.
Blinded by the prospects of heaven on earth, Rebecca Nyoni, 29, told senior court magistrates Lewis Mumba and Pauline Newa that she decided to leave her matrimonial home and husband and opted to start an affair with Patrick Tembo.
“Tembo and I dated before I got married. We met again years later after I was married, but my husband is impotent. He [Tembo] enticed me into rekindling our relationship and I fell for him. I even left my husband because of Tembo,” she said.
Unfortunately, in the course of the relationship, Nyoni fell pregnant but her new love Tembo opted to end the relationship claiming she was still married.
Nyoni was narrating in a case in which she sued Tembo, 32, of Chalala township for child maintenance.
“He denied the pregnancy when I told him about it stating that I was still a married woman. He abandoned me and has never provided any financial support towards the welfare of our child. This is the reason I brought him to court,” she said.
However, Tembo denied having sex with Nyoni and claimed that he was a respectable family man.
Tembo accused Nyoni of being a prostitute who is trying to ruin his life.
Passing judgment, the court upheld the claim and ordered Tembo to pay Nyoni K500 monthly as child maintenance, effective this monthend.
The court also ordered for a paternity test to be conducted to determine whether or not Tembo was the child’s father.

This judgement is quite disturbing. You first find the man guilty and then order for a parternity test after! What if the tests come out negative?
marriage is about partnership with or without children. if this lady was the one with the fertility issue, would she have justified if her husband impregnated his ex like she is justifying her actions?

Women of today awe shuwa my wife has also gone back to her x lover who dumped her in 1997 and gave me the chance to strike in 200. WTF is going on with these women. Its so hard to understand them. I am directly affected by bthis story so I will not throw politics into it ni zee.
God is the one who gives children, l have been married for 7yrs without a child, but have to respect my husband and wait for God time. its not good to be dishonest and get a child outside marriage, thus being unfair to your partner.
