Govt offers Cheaper Houses For Ex KTZ Workers ‘Govt Sales Kafue Houses at K4, 000 and K17, 000’

Government has resolved to sale 47 flats of the defunct Kafue Textiles of Zambia (KTZ) to the former worker at K4, 000 and K17, 000.
Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda disclosed the development when he addressed the former workers in Kafue today that government has used the 1993 and 1999 evaluation.
Mr. Chikwanda says the flats which were supposed to be sold at K83, 000 will be sold at K17, 000 while those which were pegged at K39, 000 will be sold at K4, 000.
He says President Edgar Lungu has listened to their cries and decided to give them at a cheaper offer.
Mr. Chikwanda stated that the sitting tenants belong to different political parties and therefore this should not be viewed as a political move meant to award PF members the same flats.
And in a vote of thanks on behalf of the former workers, Bessy Mukamba says the initial prices offered to the sitting tenants were prohibitive as none of them had not been in gainful employment since 2004.

But they are only 47 houses=47 votes, obviously not enough for 50+ required to win.
