Justice Deputy Minister Keith Mukata has resigned from Government to join the opposition UPND.
Mr. Mukata who is MMD Chilanga Member of Parliament says he tendered his letter of resignation to State House this morning.
And Kafue PF MP Obvious Mwaliteta has quit the government for the opposition UPND.
Speaking at a media briefing where he was welcomed to the UPND by party President Hakainde Hichilema today, Mr. Mukata says his resignation has been dictated by his conscious.
Mr. Mukata says there is currently no better leader to become the next republican president other than UPND President Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr. Mukata has since apologized to Mr. Hichilema for having previously campaigned against him saying he had been casting his fishing net wrongly.
And Mr. Hichilema has described Mr. Mukata’s resignation from government and the subsequent joining of the UPND as an indication of united Zambians are in their resolve to remove the ruling Patriotic Front from power in this year’s elections.
Mr. Hichilema says his party is expecting more of such resignations as the August 11th general election draw near.
Meanwhile MMD Members of Parliament who supported Mr. Hichilema in the 20th January, 2016 presidential elections have reaffirmed their endorsement of the UPND leader’s candidature in this year’s elections.
These include among other Mumbwa Member of Parliament Brian Chituwo and his counterparts for Liuwa, Nalikwanda and Ikeleng’i Situmbeko Musokotwane, Geoffrey Lungwangwa and Elijah Muchima respectively.

I really get amazed how the issue of tribalism comes up each time UPND scoes big.MPs from eastern province has been resigning enmass from MMD to join pf yet no one spoke of tribalism.This election is not Bemba/Ngoni vs Tonga/Lozi/Kaonde/Luvale/Lamba/lunda.
It is about stopping mediocrisy,corruption ,neptotism,violence,break down of law and order.
Ladies and gantlemen let us dabate on real issues.Right now you are buying ubunga at inflated prices,there is fuel shortages,unending load shedding ,falling kwacha etc.You are affected even if you are tying to put up a brave face .Nayizanda bane.The UNIP days are back.

UPND is a tribal party whether you like it or not. To those disputing these facts and you ‘ve been to secondary, college or university you will agree with me. In an event that there were two or more Tongas in class, they would always sit close to each other in class and play together even after leaving their class room. At places of work the scenario is just the same. But the question is, why are you people like this? If you are disputing, I’ll give you the names of secondary school, college and university I attended, not forgetting companies I worked for. You need to change bane. For you even if your tribal mate was foolish, you would still go ahead and have him as your friend even when there were better individuals from other tribes.
