GOVERNMENT says it will continue paying meal allowance to students at the University of Zambia (UNZA) School of Medicine Ridgeway campus and Copperbelt University (CBU) Ndola campus because they were not part of the violent protests that led to the closure of the UNZA Great East Road campus and CBU in Kitwe.
Ministry of Higher Education public relations officer Chiselwa Kawanda said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that the UNZA School of Medicine Ridgeway campus and CBU Ndola campus students on bursary are not affected by the scrapping of the meal allowance.
“The Ministry of Higher Education would like to clarify that the University of Zambia – School of Medicine (Ridgeway campus) and the Copperbelt University – Ndola campus students on Bursary were not affected by the scrapping of meal allowances,” Ms Kawanda said.

intelligent charps does not show of mufyabushilu they deserve to receive their allowances like those tourist on Unza who who act stupiditly mubupuba. investigate and see character you ll find out that Engineers are not affected as well bakaele.. .
UBUSHILU MULEKE, CHINSHI MULESABAILA KANSHI. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN PF IS THAT EVERYONE IS A SPOKESPERSON OF THE PARTY INCLUDING THE VIOLENT CADRE KAMBA. YOU HAVE REALLY LOST POPULARITY ON THIS. PARENTS AND STUDENTS ARE EQUALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE GOVT. DO YOU THINK THEY CAN STILL VOTE FOR PF NO!

If my girl friend is in school of humanities and I am in the school of medicine and I get my meal allowance. I surely cannot enjoy her starving. I will share the little I have with her. PF just to let you know this will bring about untold suffering and malnutrition at the universities. Just give every body the meal allowance fullstop. If you can spend K4.6 million on declaring a certain day in just a few hours why cant you spend a similar amount for close to 20,000 students for a month. Month or day which is beneficial………There is a president somewhere in africa who spent lavishly for his 92 birthday thousands of US dollars and meanwhile thier economy is in the intensive care. Our presido had trips to see that leader a number of times. Was it to get guidance on how to use govt. money. As Zambia we are not yet in intensive care but still at the casualty awaiting to be given a ward because our economoc illness is greater than what ICU can handle. I have an extremely strong and positive feeling that the only ward where Zambia will show quick recovery is ward UPND. Viva our party
Yes that’s good pf cos Dr’s think unlike these stupids
I wont deny the fact that students were wrong for destroying property I am a student as well I may not be on B.C but am very concerned for those who are dependant on it . the thing the government is forgetting is to look at the little details as to which people are coming from different places and by that i mean some people are coming from rural areas or very unfavourable financial backgrounds and have very little capabilities to support themselves in anyway financially. I know so many students who would use that same allowance to pay tuition fees and pay for accommodation especially for those without rooms in school. and as its so served purpose to get them food in order to feed. another point the government hasn’t looked at are the results of taking away this from the students . Believe me you there will be high rates of theft and prostitution in the institutions and also disorder in short , people will not study on empty stomachs and also looking at our economy surely not everyone will stand a chance of getting employment and mind you most jobs these days to get them we need papers (degrees, diplomas, certificates) of which we are in the process of attaining but its like the government is making that difficult for most of us cause to be honest for some of us these will be the first most concrete achievements in our names other than our grade 12 certificates. so for me I honestly think taking away B.C isn’t the best solution but one of the worst ever. the students were wrong yes but in this country to be heard you have to make some noise. so with all due respect please reconsider your decisions am sure most of you are parents would you be happy if your child was denied something that also helps you forget about paying their tuition fees because not only the students are affected but people back home especially financially. so many people are going to be affected deal with these children as though they were your own. for most people to apply to be under B.C meaning they have failed no starting point life has hit them left right center please forgive them and reconsider.
many people who are also innocent will suffer mind you which isn’t fair….
You think those medical students will vote pf. bane it is too late. the majority of students have made up their minds. You cannnot treat them like animals and then now start offering small bribes over meal allowances kikiki ala!. The pf seem to have no direction at all. One day they wake up and decide to ban allowances. next they say something else. We are now getting confused. The country has no leaders. We are in autopilot. Bane change is needed in august. Vote upnd
