SPECIAL assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda says President Edgar Lungu wants to encourage former FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya to support his successor Andrew Kamanga.
Chanda said prior to last Wednesday’s Chipolopolo’s one-all draw against Congo, President Lungu wanted to meet Kamanga and Bwalya and fly to Ndola with them on the presidential plane.
Chanda said President Lungu wanted Bwalya and Kamanga to work together as both had a lot to contribute to Zambian football. “He [President Lungu] actually wanted to meet both of them [Kamanga and Bwalya] at once and Kamanga is very, very game for that,” Chanda said.
“He [President Lungu] wants to tell them that he wants football to proceed, he wants Andrew to follow up on his inaugural statement and encouraged Kalusha to support Kamanga. The main message was to encourage Kalusha to support Kamanga. And this message I delivered to Kamanga, but then the President had wanted to do that himself. But particularly the final two days before the match, the President wanted to have a meeting between Kalusha and Kamanga, and if possible he wanted to go with them on the presidential jet to Ndola, but two things arose; Kalusha said he was having an engagement in South Africa and he was leaving that very day and Kamanga said he was having a pre-match meeting to prepare for the game, so he was required to be in Ndola in the morning and I delivered the message. Andrew Kamanga told me he would be very happy if I help to make that meeting take place. So the meeting will be taking place when the diaries of the two gentlemen fit into the President’s diary. The President wants these two men to work together.”
Chanda said State House believed Kamanga was an impartial person with no political affiliations.
“We are just too happy that the man is above politics and that puts him in a better position to run football,” said Chanda. Kamanga was elected FAZ president during the association’s AGM in Kitwe on Sunday.

With all the important challenges facing the country lungu seriously would rather involve himself in the administration of a game which should not be politically influenced. Indeed lungu had mo vision and lacks priority. Is this thr guy you want ruling us for further five years? Be wise vote upnd

Kalu cannot agree to that good idea, the man is just too much of himself. Anyway there is a big difference in terms of education between the two. I salute you bwana EL for that suggestion, it came at the right time.
