Scott, Miles Sampa Endorses Hakainde For Presidency

Former republican vice president Guy Scott has endorsed opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema as his preferred presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections.
Dr. Scott who is also PF Lusaka Central Member of Parliament says he finds Mr. Hichilema to be the best candidate to become Zambia’s next republican president.
He says as founder member of the ruling PF he is disappointed that President Edgar Lungu has destroyed the party by embracing MMD members.
Dr. Scott who also served as acting republican President says he does not think that the ruling PF should be embracing members of a political party that failed the Zambian people.
He says he also thinks that President Lungu has failed to run the affairs of the nation as evidenced by the poor performance of the economy.
Dr. Scott was speaking at a media briefing where Defunct Democratic Front leader Miles Sampa signed a partnership with Mr. Hichilema to work together in the August 11th general elections.
Earlier Mr. Sampa urged other opposition political parties to consider supporting Mr. Hichilema and the UPND because President Lungu has failed to deliver to the expectations of the people.
Mr. Sampa has also hinted on other Members of Parliament that are expected to join the UPND once Parliament is dissolved.
And Mr. Hichilema has described the support from Dr. Scott and Mr. Sampa as a clear understanding of the opposition’s quest for change.
He says doors of his party remain open for more other political party members to join.

EL greatest strength in my mind is his genuine likability. Many people hate him on the right, but the opposition always hates the president, but I think a lot of independent genuinely feel like he’s a good guy trying to get the job, and even when he nose-dives, they give him a break.
Haka Hechi (HH) lack of charisma isn’t going to bring out the passion in the electorate EL is. Fifth time loser would move some progressives, but he already ruining it by blatant playing of the tribal card, bitterness, hatred, Satanism,,monetarily selfish & desperation.
Scott, Sampa, GBM,M’membe…all chauvinists who want to rule @ all costs .HH …..not so

Shallow reasoning, endorsing someone using reasons that you’re against. If i were HH i would also embrace because you too are coming from an accused failed party.

The greatest irony I find is this. hakainde and his company called upnd (pvt) have been consistent in saying PF have failed the state from the Sata presidency to date. They have labelled them as Chimbwi No Plan. Then Scot castigates ECL as embracing failures. Yet, hichilema is NOW basking in the support of the PF failures and trying to smile at that. Isn’t upnd becoming PF just as PF is allegedly becoming MMD?
That is what I mean when I say, you have leaders that lack principlesin Zambia. isn’t Sampa showing what a huge failure he is in wanting to hijack DF, failing the orange coalition before it is born, then running to seek bu running mate? After this move, wouldn’t we say Chagwa cones out the principled one as to why he had shelved this gang from the word ‘go!’

@Mulenga, that is just what I mean. If there are no permanent enemies, then Scot could have chosen to used another excuse. Probably, just hatred for Lungu. It would have sounded more plausible.

Try and show some form of maturity in the way you conduct yourselves running to UPND is not the best solution we understand your anger towards ECL
Only one person can rule at any given particular time so be Sampa adios as for Dr Scott you are excused as your sentiments may be due to old age

kakolwe fantastic observation. if it is TRUE pf as failed in whatever sector which these oppositions never mention, then isn’t pf people ..should guy scott say I have failed u now since im a failure from pf I have embraced HH because birds of the same feather flock together ..his reasoning is a bit childish because the same mmd worked under mwanawasa r the same who worked under rupiah..same team different leader.one was praised for being a hard worker the other was looked down to b a failure.we saw guy scot dictatorial way of governing for a short period so we do no now how he thinks..he thinks exactly like HH..lucky for me I already have my cards, good luck and god speed

Now lungu is hand in hand with this man and corruption cases have disappeared in thin air. A clear sign that lungu is another corrupt fool who we will sort out in august. Banda should also be told that his cases will be reopen come august. Stay strong

A prominent Angolan rapper has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison for planning a rebellion against President Jose Eduardo dos Santos.

Luaty Beirao was sentenced by a court in the capital, Luanda, along with 16 other activists who were given jail terms of between two and eight years.

Amnesty International said they had been sentenced by a “kangaroo court”.

The 17 were arrested in June after discussing a book about non-violent resistance at their book club.

Mr dos Santos has ruled oil-rich Angola since 1979.

    • Elite ‘hoard’ Angola’s wealth

Beirao, also known by his stage name Ikonoklasta, has been an outspoken critic of the government, calling for a fairer distribution of the southern African state’s oil wealth.

Doc, when Scott was vice president, he tried to advise Zambians not to vote for EL but Zambians went against Scott’s will. Scott, miles&GBM refused to work with EL from the word go. i think we all wanted to see Scott coming again to our rescue.Ifintu te Lungu, I strongly believe that Scott is not coming from a Fairlie back ground. Ba UPND just embrace him and you ha a chance of ruling now.

I can see fools ranting in punic and in usual ignorant manner. Us in upnd have been consistent that pf has been a faillure from inception,we have been catigorical that pf under sata and pf under lungu.Just like we said mmd under RB. Ba Sata used to say he was not part of Chiluba’s mmd faillure because he was not the driver. There is portential in alot of mmd and pf mps but if the head cant shaw leadership, what can they do? Alot of these mps can perform miracles under a focust leader. Its the more reason i keep telling you that Mina i support upnd because i believe HH is the man,if another leader comes i will definately have to asses him.Mina shisapota fipuba, nor ubungulu,or like a football team. Levy arrested Katele but Chiengi people believed in him,so Levy adopted him provided he would get votes outa him but never elevated him to cabinet.Even Frank Bwalya or mumbi Phiri are invited to upnd. What matters is the leader on top there, the abillity he has to spot a team(cabinet) he is gonna work with.Thats africa.
