Tukaisanga mulimwamone ifwe ba PF nga tatwachitepo fimo pali uyu umulumendo Chishimba Kambwili na party yakwe National Democratic Congress (NDC) pantu mambala na twingilila bubi bubi ku Copperbelt, A Cabinet Minister has said loosely translated as(We will find ourselves regretting because Kambwili and his party have penetrated Copperbelt, the traditional stronghold of the PF)
The Minister and senior member of the party who declined to be named said the PF should come to terms with reality and find a way to bring Kambwili back to the. party
He said Kambwili’s popularity is immeasurable and if left unchecked, has potential to dwarf the ruling party on the Copperbelt, where elections are usually won and lost.
The Minister said since Kambwili has one leg in the PF, as he is challenging his expulsion in court, it is easy for the ruling party to embrace him than allowing him to cause damage on the party structures in the Copperbelt.
“Ine, my honest take on this Chishimba Kambwili issue is that he is giving us a lot of pressure. Ba Sunday Chanda and team are doing a great job trying to take him on, but he is too politically smart and he knows PF in and out, especially on the Copperbelt where he is known as a Jerabo. The NDC is growing like bush fire since it was formed. You can see for yourself going by their recent meetings. The party is eating up our structures. The best Eagle One can do is to make peace with Kambwili. The other thing is to hope for the best in the outcome of his case. I mean, the court should rule that the party expelled him on flimsy grounds. This will save us from a miserable defeat,” the Minister said.
Asked whether Kambwili can win the 2021 elections, given the opportunity to contest, the Minister responded in the negative but however, warned that the former Information and Broadcasting Minister will cause damages on the ruling PF.
“If he(Kambwili contests against us, he will split our votes on the Copperbelt and if Copperbelt responds well to him, it means Luapula and Northern Provinces will follow and this will make it easy for this business man…ine I call him a businessman not a politician(Hakainde Hichilema) to remove us from power easily. While ifwe will be dividing votes on the Copperbelt, Lusaka, Northern and Muchinga, this tycoon’s strongholds will remain intact and if you saw aletola abantu mu ma strongholds yesu in the last two elections,” he said.
Kambwili will soon know his fate on whether he is still PF Roan Member of Parliament.
