Chainama Hills Hospital has been recording an average of 200 admissions of patients suffering from alcohol abuse with the first three of this year recording 697 mental illnesses.

Hospital public relations Officer George Tafuna has confirmed that 697 Zambians suffered from alcohol related illnesses in the first quarter.

Mr Tafuna says the number is worrying and believes that the implementation of the National Alcohol Policy will help the hospital record low numbers of alcohol related cases.

On Wednesday, May 23, Chief Government spokesperson Dora Siliya announced that a National Alcohol Policy has been approved.
