Kaizer Chiefs still have over three weeks left before beginning their pre-season preparations for the 2018/19 campaign, although they may have already earmarked one player to come in for assessment.
The Glamour Boys struggled in front of goal in the past season as they finished behind both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership, something that prompted the club into stating that there will be a ‘complete overhaul’.
With the likes of Keagan Buchanan, Tsepo Masilela and others set to exit Naturena, they have already started planning for the season ahead with regards to both players and technical team, and it appears that Idris Mbombo’s name has been mentioned as a possible option.
Mbombo is currently plying his trade with Nkana FC in his home country while on loan from Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia. The 21-year-old returned to Africa at the start of 2018 and could cost the Amakhosi a pretty penny if they’re to bring him on board.
Chiefs are due back at training on June 25th, and they may look at the option of bringing the former ZESCO United star in for the new coach – if he’s been appointed – to take a look at.
