Musukwa’s Scavengers Reference Shocks FDD

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) has expressed shock and disappointment at Mines Minister Richard Musukwa’s reference to those who died in the black mountain accident in Kitwe as scavengers and illegal miners.

FDD Chairperson for labour Yotam Mtayachalo says the statement is highly irresponsible, unacceptable and immoral, further urging the Minister to withdraw the statement.

Mr Mtayachalo says the Minister must apologize unreservedly to the nation and the bereaved families, stating that such utterances are at variance with Christian values.

He adds that such remarks are demeaning to the deceased.
