Husband Dragged To Court For Denying Wife Sex

A Kitwe wife could not hold back her emotions as she testified how her husband of five years has allegedly been sexually starving her on the basis that he no longer feels attracted to her. Helen Chilembo, 31, was testifying in a case in which her husband, Michael Mulenga, 31, sued her for divorce on grounds of irreconcilable differences.

The two got married in 2013 and have four children together. Chilembo, who was full of emotions, told the court that she does not want her husband to divorce her because she loves him and would like the court to reconcile them. She said all was well between them and problems in their marriage started after her husband started acting busy.

Chilembo said her husband was then working in Solwezi and that he would only visit her when he was off but that instead of him utilising his off days to spend time with his family, he was opting to spend more time away from home. She complained that her husband focused more on his job and that she had to force him to perform conjugal rights.

“I do not even remember the last time we had sex because he always tells me that he has no sexual feelings for me,” she said.
In his earlier statement, Mulenga complained before the court that his wife has no respect for him and that she is fond of suppressing her feelings.
He said his wife is a liar and pretends that everything is alright when in fact not.

Mulenga said he opted to sue his wife for divorce because she has been threatening to divorce him for a long time now and that he is just fulfilling her wishes. And Kitwe senior local court magistrate Fredrick Ndhlovu adjourned the case to a later date.
