I AM ready to re-join the Patriotic Front because it is the party which is still at heart, former PF member George Mpombo has disclosed.
Dr Mpombo told the Daily Nation in an interview yesterday, he was more than ready to start working with his former political party.
Dr Mpombo who is also former Defence Minister in the MMD regime said the PF was at his heart hence he would never engage any opposition political party.
He said he had been waiting for the party leadership to approach him on the possibility of taking his political experience to the party.
The former Masaiti Member of Parliament said he had roots in the PF as he had worked with late President Michael Sata, and that he would not have challenges to work with the leadership of President Edgar Lungu.
“I was in trenches with late Michael Sata during 2011 and vigorously campaigned with him for the party and my heart remains with the party,” Dr Mpombo said.
He said once he rejoined the party, he would campaign immensely for the party to emerge victorious in 2021.
Dr Mpombo advised the ruling party to utilise former UPND vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) as he was a heavyweight in the political arena.
He said Mr Mwamba played a pivotal role in UPND’s performance in the 2016 general election and was competent enough to help the party win the 2021 elections.
Dr Mpombo said the ruling party should embrace the veteran politicians.
Meanwhile PF Central Committee chairperson for youth and sports Kebby Mbewe said in a separate interview said the party was more than ready to work with Dr Mpombo.
Mr Mbewe said the party wanted to work with experienced politicians who would help in growing the party.
