Government has expressed disappointment with the statement issued by United Party for National Development -UPND- spokesperson Charles Kakoma stating that President Edgar Lungu should not be involved in peace building in the region.
Ms. Siliya says Zambia is renowned for being a beacon for peace and it should not be taken for granted.
She said it is dangerous for a politician to keep sowing seeds of division in the country.
Ms. Siliya has called on the media to be wary of politicians who want to glorify perceived misunderstandings which do not exist and bring disunity in the country.
She said political ambitions should not be allowed to divide the country.
Ms. Siliya has called on opposition political leaders to exercise their political freedom without destroying the country’s peace and stability.
She was speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today.
And the Chief Government Spokesperson has called on journalists to distance themselves from fake news.
Ms. Siliya said fake news is dangerous to the country and that perpetrators of fake news want to make the mainstream media irrelevant.
