The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has applauded the Patriotic Front for holding its first ever National conference.
FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi says by holding the National Conference, the PF has demonstrated that it is capable of observing the tenets of democracy.
He hopes that this is a sign that intra-party democracy will be upheld especially that the party has in the past been accused of not being democratic.
Mr. Chipenzi has since urged the PF to protect and accommodate journalists from public and private media houses at its on-going national conference. The long awaited PF convention is underway in Kabwe, central province.
The convention, which officially opened Sunday, has attracted Over
3,500 delegates from all the 9 provinces of Zambia.
The lead opposition partys convention is being held at Mulungushi University.

Fodep as a promoter of democracy must condemn any attempts to stiffle media freedom. The pfs action to bar journalists from its conference is inexcusable
