MMD Cadres In Kitwe Protest Over The Adoption Of PF ‘Rebel’ Councillor Divo Katete

Movement for Multiparty for Democracy (MMD) cadres in Nkana constituency mid morning protested in Kitwes Buchi area demanding an answer from MMD authorities on why they decided to adopt Patriotic Front rebel councillor Divo Katete on the MMD Nkana constituency ticket leaving out former Nkana constituency Member of Parliament George Chilumanda whom they wanted. Sources close to have confirmed the development.
By press time, the cadres were still protesting.
But Kitwe District Chairman George Lungu when contacted over the matter said he was not aware of the protests but promised to investigate the matter.
He however wonders why the cadres should protest when the adoptions were made by the MMDs National Executive Committee (NEC).
Meanwhile, Patriotic Front former National Youth secretary Erick Chanda says the PF will win 100 percent parliamentary seats on the Copperbelt.
Mr. Chanda says the credibility of the adopted MMD candidates on the Copperbelt can not meet the expectations of the people, describing the adopted candidates as failures.
The MMD has adopted ‘rebel’ PF councilor Divo Katete for Nkana Constituency, former UPND national youth spokesperson Ronald Manenga to contest the Chimwemwe seat and Copperbelt MMD task force chairman Joe Malanji for Kwacha constituency.
Others are Pavyuma Kalobo for Wusakile and Itay Chinkuli for Kamfinsa constituency respectively.
But Mr. Chanda says the adopted candidates lack the will to work for the people of Zambia.
He says the PF has better candidates that will bring development to the respective constituencies on the copperbelt.
But Kwacha Constituency adopted candidate Joe Malanji says the PF has no direction.
Asked how he levels his chances of winning the seat, Mr. Malanji says he does not go into any competition with guess work.
