Mopani Copper Mines Ushers In New CEO

Mopani Copper Mines (MCM) has ushered in a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The development comes following the Board Meeting held on 26th July 2011.
According to a statement availed to by Mopani Company Secretary Kyansenga Chitoshi, have appointed Mr. Danny Callow as its new Chief Executive Officer.
The Board of Directors of Mopani Copper Mines Plc has since appointed Mr. Emmanuel Mutati as Chairman of the Board of Mopani Copper Mines Plc.
Mr. Callow, a Mining Engineer, takes over from Mr. Mutati.
Mr. Callow joins Mopani from Mutanda Mining, a Glencore subsidiary in the Democratic Republic of Congo where he has been General Manager since July, 2007. Previous to this, Mr. Callow has served in various senior management positions in the South African mining industry and as Operations Manager of Barloworld Equipment in Zambia.
He therefore brings with him a long history and experience in the mining industry from which Mopani hopes to benefit.
Mr. Mutati meanwhile, a Mining Engineer and Fellow of the Engineering Institution of Zambia has had 36 years’ experience in the mining industry and has, over the span of his career, held various senior management positions in ZCCM.
Mr. Mutati joined Mopani in 2000 as General Manager of Nkana Mine, and has since held the portfolios of Chief Services Officer, Chief Mining Officer and Chief Executive Officer. He brings with him a wealth of experience to the Chairmanship of the Board.
Mopani Copper Mines has since congratulated the two gentlemen on their new appointments and wishes them every success as they embark on their new challenges.
