UNIP Files In Presidential Nomination

THE Supreme Court area was this morning a hive of activity amid tight security as the United National Independence Party (UNIP) president Tilyenji Kaunda successfully filed in his nomination papers, ahead of the September 20 general elections.
He was accompanied by his wife, Patience, and the party vice president Njekwa Anamela.
“Like in 1991, UNIP is very ready for the September elections. The MMD regime has failed lamentably; it failed to deliver a constitution. Corruption, hunger, poverty and unemployment have risen to such great heights due to lack of a constitution. UNIP will provide the Zambian people with a constitution within six months of being in office,” said Kaunda.
And Chief Justice Ernest Sakala accepted the nomination and congratulated Mr. Tilyenji Kaunda.
